Job description

The Receiving Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the receipt and storage of products and materials within the organization. This management position is also responsible for directing and managing the warehouse, including secondary oversight of maintenance, quality assurance and proper GMP food safety handling. Ensures timely and accurate tracking of inventory through the inventory management system. Manages an effective balance of operations efficiency, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction and growth.
II. Essential Job Functions:
1. Ensures all deliveries meet or exceed company quality standards and that product is handled according to GMP standards / received and stored using consistent food safety regulations
2.Ensures timely and accurate tracking of inventory through the inventory management system.
3.Supervises and assures product is suitable for shipping, including verifying information through purchase orders and ticketing; ensures warehouse is appropriately stocked; complies with Company ticketing and signing guidelines.
4.Communicates with Purchasing and Sales staff regarding product shortages, overages, and quality concerns.
5.Ensures orderly and clean receiving and cooler areas; ensures warehouse complies with all external audit standards (Cook and Thurber, etc.)
6.Ensures slot moves are conducted efficiently, effectively and timely. Oversees rotation of stock to ensure quality product is available for shipping and to minimize waste.
7.Supervises effectiveness and productivity of Receiving staff through continual communication and performance management; reacts to personnel performance issues.
8.Train and/or oversee training of new Warehouse Receivers.
9.Perform other related duties as may be required.
III. Working Conditions/Job Environment
1.Degree of physical demands (strength) usually associated with this position.
โ€ข Minimum lift requirement 50-60 lbs on a regular basis
โ€ข Requires repeated stooping and bending
โ€ข Frequent lifting and carrying of boxed/bagged fruits and vegetables
โ€ข Requires continuous standing for extended periods of time
โ€ข Frequently requires riding a motorized, stand-on pallet jack and a stand-up Crown forklift
โ€ข Frequent loading / unloading of produce from an enclosed tractor trailer unit
2.Environmental conditions (physical surroundings and hazards) usually associated with this position:
โ€ข Working in 36 -40 degree (F) warehouse areas for 7-8 hours on a daily basis
โ€ข Working in a damp environment 8-10 hours on a daily basis
โ€ข Frequent use of a private office inside of the warehouse area
โ€ข Occasional work outside in adverse weather conditions loading and unloading trucks
โ€ข Moderately noisy environment
III. Minimum Qualifications:
1. Education:
โ€ข High School Diploma or equivalent industry experience
2.Experience:
โ€ข Three years of warehouse receiving experience. Two years of supervisory experience in a warehouse environment
3.Knowledge:
โ€ข Thorough product knowledge, including acceptable substitutes and frequently ordered items
โ€ข Warehouse receiving and storage processes and procedures
โ€ข Knowledge of produce types and ability to make judgments on product quality
โ€ข Basic knowledge of inventory control and Microsoft Office software applications
4. Skills and Abilities:
โ€ข Ability to supervise receiving supervisors and receiving employees on different shifts
โ€ข Comfortable working in a fast paced, multi-tasked environment, and have good organizational skills
โ€ข Must be a self starter, assertive - decision maker, forward thinker, and problem solver
โ€ข Able to drive a stand up fork lift and a sit down fork lift
โ€ข Able to lift and load cases on to warehouse shelves properly and safely
โ€ข Ability to read put-away reports and match with slot location and case product description
โ€ข Basic math; Very strong verbal and written communication skills
V. Preferred Qualifications:

โ€ข Associates or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry experience
2.Experience:
โ€ข Five years of warehouse receiving experience. Four years of supervisory experience in a warehouse environment
3.Knowledge:
