Job description

Summary

Under general direction, the Shipping Receiving Coordinator ensures product availability, schedules deliveries, maintains associated inventory records, and assists in the day-to-day coordination of related functions, while meeting regulatory and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates product delivery to growers at an SGS operation to maximize resources of staff and to meet customer needs by scheduling and dispatching delivery staff in a manner which economically utilizes physical and human resources. May personally deliver product to customers.
  • Provides service to walk-in customers. Receives telephone orders from customers and Sales Representatives. Prepares product mix instruction sheets, Material Safety Data Sheets, and work orders.
  • Makes product purchase recommendations to Supervisor/Market Manager to ensure adequate inventory to meet sales and delivery needs. Ensures appropriate receipt and recordkeeping of unit inventory. Performs physical inventory counts.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties such as filing and other clerical tasks, calculating product amounts, calibrating equipment, loading trucks, general equipment and plant maintenance, product storage activities, bending and warehouse work, etc.

Typical Education

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).  Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position.

Skills & Relevant Experience
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training
  • Inventory Management experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT Compliance practices a plus
  • Prior experience in the agriculture industry preferred
  • Forklift certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of basic farm equipment and operation preferred
  • Chemical and/or fertilizer knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of region and customer needs a plus
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License required 
  • Must be able to lift minimum 50lbs
  • Must be willing and able to work Ag industry hours, which may include:  early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays as seasonal needs demand
  • Requires strong computer skills, with demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Must be organized
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills:
  • ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rations and percentages.
