Position Overview

As an Auction Services Associate, you responsible for zone maintenance, vehicle preparation, vehicle receiving, inventory scanning, reconciliation, final quality of saleable inventory, vehicle movement (both on and off-lot), asset protection, and providing exceptional service to internal and external customers.

Role Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily inventory appearance and security while ensuring vehicle zones and parking areas remain organized and optimized for smooth operations.
  • Document and track incoming and outgoing inventory through shipping and receiving processes to support accurate, transparent vehicle records.
  • Receive, prepare, and process vehicles—including pairing locators, capturing photos, and securing keys—to ensure readiness for sale or auction.
  • Support auction operations by assisting with preparation, coordination, and execution activities that enable a seamless experience.
  • Contribute to new associate training by sharing best practices and reinforcing safety and operational standards.
  • Complete daily inventory scanning and reconciliation to ensure accurate, real‑time visibility of site inventory.
  • Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to read, interpret, and enter data accurately to maintain reliable inventory records.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with associates across multiple departments.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to perform in a high‑energy, fast‑paced environment.
  • Solid inventory management awareness with the willingness to learn and strengthen operational skills.
  • Commitment to completing all CarMax‑provided training and following established wholesale and inventory procedures.
  • High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work flexible schedules—including nights, weekends, and holidays—and operate in outdoor environments, including inclement weather, while wearing required CarMax apparel.
