Job description

Receiving Operator

The Receiving Operator has a very important role in ensuring product integrity of bulk seed received at the plant. Other essential job functions may include but not limited to:

  • Performing work activities safely and in compliance with company Quality Management System.
  • Verifying hilum purity, moisture content, contaminants and mechanical damage by performing a soak test on every truck load of seed received prior to unloading.
  • Unload bulk seed from semi loads directly from on-farm storage, observing seed quality during the process.
  • Thorough cleaning of all equipment in order to maintain product integrity.
  • Involved in preventative maintenance and repairs in the receiving area.
  • Safely climb stairs and/or ladders to monitor and adjust equipment.
  • Ensure product integrity by avoiding variety mixtures in receiving bins.
  • May assist in coordinating seed arrival from on-farm storage.
  • Assists the Conditioning Supervisor and Conditioning Operator in the conditioning tower as needed.
  • May supervise other employees in the receiving area.
  • Maintaining a neat, clean, and organized work area.

Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Biology, Agronomy, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in seed production, quality assurance or similar field.
  • Working knowledge of quality control practices and willingness to apply standards.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately record, track, and interpret data in systems like RIC or similar software.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate across teams and manage multiple priorities.
