About the Position

We are seeking a positive, practical, and service-minded Lead Sales Associate to support park store operations and partnership coordination activities at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

This hands-on role will serve as the Lead Sales Associate for park store operations, operating the point of sale, assisting with merchandise receiving and stocking, working regular store shifts, and maintaining attractive, visitor-ready store environments.

This position is a good fit for someone who has previous retail experience, is organized, creative, dependable, and values providing exceptional experiences for park visitors.

Key Responsibilities

The Park Store and Operations Lead will:

  • Welcome visitors to the national park visitor center in a warm, helpful, and professional manner.
  • Operate the park store point-of-sale system and handle transactions accurately.
  • Help visitors find books, maps, gifts, apparel, educational items, and keepsakes related to Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
  • Become familiar with basic park and area information in order to help orient visitors.
  • Keep merchandise areas clean, organized, stocked, and visitor-ready.
  • Assist with receiving, pricing, labeling, stocking, and displaying merchandise.
  • Stay helpful, accurate, and professional during busy periods and high visitor volume.
  • Support smooth store operations during weekends, holidays, special events, and peak visitation periods.
  • Work cooperatively with store staff, National Park Service staff, and other park partners.
  • Monitor stock levels and use creativity and good judgment to keep stores well stocked and attractively arranged.
  • Assist with inventories, cycle counts, special events, product displays, seasonal transitions, and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Service-oriented, enthusiastic, and committed to delivering excellent visitor experiences.
  • Interested in national parks, public lands, history, conservation, or visitor services.
  • Able to lead by example, support staff, and coordinate daily operations.
  • Organized, flexible, and able to handle a variety of practical tasks.
  • Skilled at communicating clearly with store staff, National Park Service staff, and Central Office.
  • Comfortable using point-of-sale systems, email, inventory tools, and common retail equipment.
  • Responsible when handling sales transactions, merchandise, and basic math.
  • Able to organize merchandise, receive shipments, maintain displays, and track store needs.
  • Familiar with Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Medora, and the surrounding area, or willing to learn.
  • Able to travel between park locations as needed.

Experience: Two or more years of relevant experience in retail, visitor services, hospitality, museum store operations, park operations, nonprofit operations, or inventory coordination preferred.
