Job Summary

Load, unload, move, and store a variety of materials, parts, and products. Move material between departments based on instruction. Operate hand trucks, forklifts, trucks, cranes, hoists, etc.Dispatch and Receive Parts.Washing, counting, and packaging parts.Help support production when needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures all parts are properly washed, rinsed, and oiled according to work orders.
  • Responsible for all parts packaged in accordance with work orders or customer specific instructions.
  • Verifying counts, weights, or measurements of items to be packaged.
  • Visually checking parts, making sure parts are clean and rust free prior to packaging.
  • Cutting cardboard, building boxes, and banding crates.
  • Ensuring that all boxes or crates are marked with the company name, proper quantity, work order number, and correct revision level.
  • Drive forklift to load/unload trucks and move product through the plant.
  • Keep inventory accurate and organized.
  • Package and ship parts going to suppliers and customers
  1. Entering all data using the Visual Manufacturing program.
  • Entering in work orders upon completion.
  • Receiving and shipping product out of ERP system.
  • Schedule and ship product using a variety of logistic carriers.
  • Reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor prior to saving any entries on the computer.
  1. Ensure the operational effectiveness of all assigned equipment.
  • Maintaining washer cleanliness.
  • Changing cylinder filters when required, skimming the wash and rinse tanks daily, cleaning internal baskets, and wiping down outside of washer when residue is apparent.
  • Sweeping entire area, and mopping daily.
  • Conducting all assigned and necessary preventative maintenance procedures.
  1. Responsible for supporting the Schafer Business process by:
  • Making recommendations for improved setup systems.
  • Maintaining the 6S program in assigned areas.
  • Continuously looking at equipment life to cut costs of repairs.
  1. Contribute to overall effectiveness of the company by:
  • Channeling problems and/or complaints to appropriate person for resolution.
  • Supporting all Schafer policies and procedures.
  • Reporting to supervisor when tasks cannot be completed, and if unsure of any procedures.
  • Providing input and assistance with the implementation of improvements.
  • Resolving problems.
  • Performing other job-related duties as required.
  • Training new personnel in the operations of the shipping department.
  • Assisting and/or training in other areas as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  1. Requires physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position, including the ability to walk, stand, lift, carry up to 50 pounds, push, kneel, bend, stoop, reach over and under waist level, twist for extended periods of time on cement or other hard surfaces, etc.
  1. Must be able to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  1. One to three months related experience and/or training.
  1. Forklift experience is required, may obtain license through Schafer if required.
  1. Basic computer skills.
  1. Self-Driven to succeed.
  1. Must have excellent organizational skill.
  1. Able to establish and execute plans.
  1. Must be able to communicate in English

Working Conditions:

  1. Air conditioned/heated manufacturing facility with possible exposure to noise; dust; fumes; physical, chemical, and biohazards; solvents, oils, and detergents.
  1. This job is to be performed at the designated facility 100% of the time unless directed otherwise by manager/supervisor.
