Job description

Position Summary: The Grocery Associate plays a key role in delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining an organized, well-stocked grocery department. The associate will be responsible for receiving, stocking, and storing products efficiently while ensuring optimal product rotation and quality. This position will also include creating and building attractive product displays, ensuring products are properly faced, and managing product damages and credits in accordance with company and vendor policies.


Key Responsibilities: (Responsibilities may vary depending on assignment.)

  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Assists truck drivers with unloading deliveries and the placement of pallets.
  • Operates a manual or electric pallet jack (18+ years old).
  • Stocks merchandise.
  • Helps maintain a clean sales floor and backroom.
  • Floor care maintenance may be included in weekly/daily duties. (18+ years old)
  • Operates box bailer and makes bails of cardboard. (18+ years old)
  • Assist on the front-end with cashier and carryout duties as needed.  
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Work Environment:

  • May be exposed to all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, ice and wind) as well as, inside work with variations in heat, cold, dust, and humidity.
  • Work may be performed inside of walk-in coolers and freezers.
  • Fast paced retail environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently moves, lifts, and carries merchandise and supplies weighing less than or equal to 30 pounds without assistance. Occasionally moves, lifts, and carries merchandise and supplies weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, and twisting with or without bearing weight. Occasionally required to climb and/or crawl.
  • Stands or walks continuously throughout the shift.

Qualifications & Other Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a retail or grocery environment preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Minimum age requirement = 16 years old.
