Forge & Build is hiring a Yard Associate at our facility in Hartselle, AL, and we're looking for someone who's ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction.
The Yard Associate is responsible for maintaining daily yard operations and standards, ensuring an excellent customer experience while upholding safety standards throughout the yard at all times.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and offers overtime pay after working 40 hours. (Includes working weekends)
Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage yard inventory control and procedures, including staging, loading, unloading, shipping, receiving, cycle counts, and transfers. Ensure all loads are accurate and delivered promptly.
  • Maintain a safe, hazard-free, and organized yard in accordance with company standards. This includes general yard and building cleanup, routine inspections, maintenance, repairs, and equipment cleaning.
  • Ensure all safety requirements and training are completed.
  • Deliver a high standard of customer experience.
  • Communicate issues that could impact the business to the Store Manager in a timely and effective manner.
  • Assist with various other duties as assigned by the Yard Supervisor or Store Manager

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work outdoors in extreme and varying weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Lifting/Movement: Constantly lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds; regularly lift and/or move objects, equipment parts, and tools up to 50 pounds or more; and occasionally move objects up to 100 pounds or more.
  • Stamina & Mobility: Spend extended periods standing and walking on varying, possibly uneven surfaces, maneuvering throughout the yard and around large equipment/obstacles. May also remain stationary for long periods (standing or sitting). Move into different positions, including bending and stooping, to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Dexterity: Use hands, fingers, and arms to manipulate tools, equipment, and small parts with precision and control. This includes constantly performing repetitive motions such as gripping, twisting, turning, fingering, handling, feeling, or making repeating motions and reaching.
  • Senses: Good vision and hearing are essential for safely operating machinery, reading technical manuals, and communicating. Must have close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Safety: Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection at all times.
