Realistic jobs typically involve practical, hands-on tasks and often require working with tools, machines, or animals. People suited for realistic jobs enjoy activities that involve problem-solving in physical or mechanical ways and often prefer outdoor or technical work environments. Examples of realistic jobs include mechanics, engineers, electricians, and construction workers.

What are common challenges faced by realistic artists when collaborating on large-scale projects?

Realistic artists often face the challenge of maintaining consistency in style and quality when working with a team on large-scale projects. Balancing individual artistic expression with the project's overall vision requires strong communication and flexibility. Additionally, deadlines can be demanding, especially when attention to detail is crucial. Collaborating effectively involves regular feedback sessions and adapting to constructive criticism, ensuring that the final work meets both creative and technical standards.

Position Summary

The Reality Capture Intern supports the collection, organization, processing, and quality review of existing-building data using LiDAR scanning, 360-degree photography, and related reality capture technologies. This position is designed for an entry-level candidate who is interested in learning field-to-office workflows within the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.
The role requires extensive travel during busy project cycles. Overnight trips may frequently last a full workweek and include extended workdays. While training and support will be provided, the intern must be capable of working autonomously at times while collecting data, performing scans, and documenting existing building conditions.

What You Will Do

• Assist with LiDAR scanning, field verification, and documentation of existing building conditions.

• Support collection of site notes, photo documentation, and field file organization.

• Help organize point cloud files, raw data, and deliverable folders using team standards.

• Assist with basic registration, data review, and processing tasks under supervision.

• Observe and learn scanning workflows, quality checks, site coordination, and safety procedures.

• Coordinate professionally with clients, facility representatives, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Current enrollment in or recent completion of a program in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.

• Strong interest in reality capture, scanning technology, and digital project delivery.

• Attention to detail, basic computer and file management skills, and willingness to follow procedures carefully.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and carry equipment for extended periods.

• Ability and willingness to travel frequently, including overnight trips lasting up to a full workweek.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or prior exposure to LiDAR, BIM, surveying, or digital modeling.

• Basic familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, or point cloud software.

• Interest in drones, photogrammetry, or digital twin workflows.
