What does a Silvi Materials Assets and Environmental Tech do?

The Ready-Mix Maintenance Technician ensures the operational excellence, safety, and reliability of all plant machinery and facilities within their assigned territory. Serving as a strategic partner, this role actively drives departmental initiatives to maintain industry-leading production facilities and fleet readiness. The technician works under the direct supervision of the Assets and Environmental Manager to minimize downtime and optimize plant efficiency.

Position Essential Functions Responsibilities Plants:
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs and inspections of primary assigned facilities to proactively identify mechanical risks.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve urgent plant concerns with minimal disruption to daily production schedules.
  • Actively monitor plant operations to guarantee that critical components are properly lubricated {grease, oil, lube) on a strict weekly schedule.
  • Diagnose, service, and repair critical plant systems-including pneumatic networks, dust collector/reclaim systems, conveyor belts, and water lines-to ensure all facility operations run strictly as designed.
  • Assist approved electrical vendors to safely troubleshoot, install, and repair high-voltage plant power and automation control systems.
  • Assist approved structural vendors with mechanical fabrication, metal cutting, and heavy welding projects to maintain or upgrade plant equipment.
  • Coordinate and oversee the installation, removal, or transportation of all machinery and
  • Manage and maintain optimal levels of critical spare parts to minimize emergency plant
  • Oversee plant grounds ensuring proper maintenance of security, lighting, landscaping and
  • Escalate issues to Asset Manager immediately as needed.
Fleet:
  • Monitor and verify that all mixer trucks and wheel loaders complete mandatory daily pre-trip inspections to ensure on-road safety and
  • Work with drivers and production teams to catch mechanical issues early, preventing costly breakdowns during deliveries.
  • Maintain, service, and repair specialized concrete mixer truck equipment including discharge chutes, charge hoppers, and drum rollers.
  • Collaborate directly with approved third-party contractors to plan, schedule, and oversee specialized repairs and preventive maintenance services.
  • Coordinate and transport commercial drivers to and from external repair facilities to ensure seamless vehicle drop-offs and pick-ups.
  • Receive incoming ready-mix mixer trucks and execute comprehensive Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) to verify factory build specifications and safety standards.
  • Install all internal auxiliary systems, aftermarket components, and specialized equipment required to meet company operational standards.
  • Assist in updating, renewing, and distributing all OMV, DOT, DOR, and FMCSA regulated documentation-including vehicle licenses, tags, registration fees, and compliance stickers
Environmental:
  • Monitor all facility stormwater control measures (SCMs) and retention infrastructure continuously to ensure proper function and drainage.
  • Monitor facility emissions and visible dust generation continuously to maintain excellent air quality and ensure compliance with environmental regulation
  • Collect, document, and preserve water or effluent samples during designated discharge events according to regulatory agency protocols.
General:
  • Communicate daily with Assets and Environmental Manager regarding the issues of the
  • Provide a weekly log of all activities to Asset and Environmental Manger every

  • Responsible for the physical security of all assigned assets
  • Communicate daily with production teams regarding the availability of
  • Respond to company emergencies such as accidents, break downs, stuck trucks, spills, plant malfunctions, etc.

  • Perform any and all duties at the request of the Asset and Environmental Manager

Qualifications

  • Valid Drivers License
  • Ability to work at 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. but has flexibility for outside and overtime hours as needed
  • The successful candidate will have at least a High School education or equivalent, although a college education is preferred.
  • This person needs to have excellent and clear communication skills (bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus)
  • Be well-organized.
  • Have strong customer service skills.
  • Dispatching experience is a plus.
  • Experience in the concrete/construction industry is also a plus
