Position Overview
The Ready-Mix Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and scheduling ready-mix concrete deliveries to customer job sites while maximizing fleet utilization, maintaining customer service standards, and supporting safe and efficient operations. This position serves as a critical communication link between customers, drivers, plant personnel, sales representatives, and operations management to ensure timely and accurate delivery of concrete products. Also monitors production schedules, delivery routes, and fleet availability while responding to changing job site conditions, customer requests, and operational needs. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Control the number of drivers needed throughout the day and make any necessary adjustments that will maintain the goals set by the company.
  • Have a pleasant and accommodating voice over the phone and always demonstrate a positive attitude.
  • Develop a positive rapport with Drivers and company supervisors.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with delivery areas and must be able to assist drivers in finding jobsites.
  • Must be able to determine travel time to jobs and best plant location to service jobs.
  • Able and willing to work overtime and varying shifts including early mornings, late afternoons, and Saturdays.

Qualifications

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree GED is preferred.

Work Requirements
  • Prior related experience dispatching, logistics, transportation, customer service, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience in ready-mix concrete, construction materials, trucking, or construction industries is highly desirable.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software (Command Alkon); Internet software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Customer service skills are essential.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
