Job description

Sylvan Learning Center Sylvan Learning of Columbia Reading Tutors Wanted for Fun After-School Tutoring! Sylvan Learning is looking for fun, dedicated teachers to help and inspire students. We are currently looking for tutors who are able to teach reading at a K-8 level, with a preferred focus on K-2 phonics development.

Sylvan creates individualized learning plans for students of all abilities. Working with three to four students each session, you will be responsible for leading instruction and motivating students to be successful. There is no lesson plan to create, no homework to grade, no parent-conferencing, and scheduling is flexible. Enjoy all of the benefits of teaching, without any of the downsides!

What you should know as a Sylvan Learning Center Reading Tutor:

• You will use pre-planned lessons. They are straightforward, easy to manage, and fun to teach. 

• Teach students in a small group setting. There will be no more than 4 students per teacher.

• Most teachers choose to work 2-5 days/week

• We are open for instruction weekday afternoons, and Saturday mornings.

• This is NOT a remote position

Job Requirements for a Sylvan Learning Center Reading Tutor:

• Bachelor’s Degree required, Teaching Credential required

• You must enjoy teaching, working, and inspiring students. (We want you to be happy here!)

• Being punctual is extremely important. You must be local and have reliable transportation. 

• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
