Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Plays an important part on the CARING team by providing transportation for clients to attend program, and assisting in other ways with daily program duties and activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid New Jersey driver's license, must possess a valid (CDL) commercial driver's license class "A, B, or C" with passenger endorsement in good standing.
  • Must be a careful driver with passenger driving experience.
  • Able to read and understand English.
  • Able to accept supervision, and function independently.
  • Driver must be familiar with the Atlantic County area of New Jersey

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Drives CARING Clients in the assigned vehicle to and from Program. Drives clients on other program outings (trips). Drives on other errands to stores, or to other destinations as assigned using safe driving practices.
  • Knowledgeable about the operations of both passenger and wheelchair vans always using correct procedures operating the wheelchair lifts on vehicles.
  • Greets all clients in a cheerful manner at their homes, must go to client's home and escort clients to/from vehicle/center/home, helping them in the vehicle, assuring that their and careful at all times.
  • Must complete manifests and daily vehicle checklists in the proper manner, report problems regarding vehicle safety or needed repairs/maintenance to the Transportation Crew Chief or Director.
  • Assures Cleanliness of the vehicle clean inside and out.
