What is a React JS developer?

A React JS Developer is a software engineer who specializes in building user interfaces and web applications using the React JavaScript library. They are responsible for developing reusable components, managing application state, and ensuring high-performance, responsive designs. React JS Developers often work closely with designers and backend developers to deliver seamless user experiences. Their expertise includes JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern front-end development tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a React JS developer?

To thrive as a React JS Developer, you need a strong grasp of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern React concepts such as hooks, state management, and component lifecycle, typically supported by a degree in computer science or relevant experience. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, build tools such as Webpack or Babel, and testing frameworks like Jest is commonly required. Problem-solving, effective communication, and teamwork are crucial soft skills that distinguish successful developers in this role. These abilities ensure efficient development of scalable, maintainable applications and smooth collaboration within cross-functional development teams.

React JS Developers often encounter challenges such as managing asynchronous data flows, handling errors gracefully, and ensuring smooth communication between the frontend and backend services. Debugging issues related to inconsistent API responses or cross-origin resource sharing (CORS) can also be common. Staying up-to-date with evolving RESTful or GraphQL API standards and ensuring secure authentication and data validation are essential for successful integration.

About the role

As a Software Developer on our Platform Engineering team, you will help design, build, and maintain the cloud-native services and tools that power Nakisa's product portfolio for Fortune 1000 companies around the world. Working within an Agile team, you will contribute to features that improve the deployment, monitoring, and visibility of our microservices, and support the continuous integration and deployment pipelines that our development teams rely on every day. You will collaborate closely with Product, QA, and DevOps as part of our continued shift toward NoOps-driven, cloud-native delivery, growing your full stack and platform engineering skills along the way.

What you'll be doing

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and their corresponding frontend components for our cloud platform.
  • Contribute to features for our identity and access management platform, supporting security and compliance requirements.
  • Help build tools and integrations that improve the monitoring, logging, and visibility of microservices and distributed systems.
  • Support and help maintain CI/CD pipelines, contributing to a smoother, more reliable build, test, and deployment process.
  • Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code that follows established best practices and design patterns.
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality software on schedule.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning, and take ownership of assigned tasks and features.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT/Codex) to improve development speed and code quality.
  • Continuously build your skills and help bring new tools, technologies, and best practices to the team.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in software development, including a minimum of 1 year working with Java.
  • Proficiency in full stack development: backend development using Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs, and frontend development using Vue.js (or similar frameworks such as React or Angular).
  • Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or others).
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
  • Experience building scalable, high-performance applications using microservice architecture.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of front-end build tools (Webpack, Babel, or similar) and state management libraries (Vuex, Pinia, or similar).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug both front-end and back-end issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work well in an Agile environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in data modeling, ETL pipelines, and database management (SQL, NoSQL).
  • Experience with data engineering tools such as Apache Flink, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Apache Confluent, or Apache Airflow.
  • Experience with data visualization and frontend libraries such as ECharts, Plotly, D3.js, or similar.
  • Understanding of the HR or Financial domain space.
