The University of Virginia Breast Imaging Division is participating in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) Fellowship Match process, sponsored by the Society of Breast Imaging. Qualified candidates will be members of the NRMP, http://www.nrmp.org/ .

This one-year post-graduate fellowship program focuses on all aspects of breast imaging, including screening and diagnostic mammography (including tomosynthesis), contrast-enhanced mammography, breast ultrasound, and breast MRI. Image guided breast procedures that are performed include stereotactic, tomosynthesis guided, ultrasound guided, and MRI guided core biopsies and wire/radioseed localizations. To learn more about the curriculum, please visit: https://med.virginia.edu/radiology/education/fellowship-program/breast-imaging/ .

For individuals looking for additional opportunities during fellowship, the UVA Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging provides final reads to our ED patients on a 24-7 basis with overnight coverage being provided by attendings and fellows who elect to participate in the program. Overnight work can be performed from home, and includes subspecialty attending back-up as needed. This optional program bolsters income in a comfortable environment, while promoting the maintenance and further development of general radiology skills in preparation for boards and practice.

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and have successfully completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at an ACGME accredited institution or successfully completed a diagnostic radiology residency accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).

  • Applicants whose spouse/domestic partner is also applying for a medical fellowship in the same year

  • Internal candidates

  • Military candidates

  • International candidates – international candidates are defined as applicants from programs that are neither ACGME or RCPS programs (i.e. Canadian applicants are NOT excluded from the embargo.)
