Job description
Mental Health, Recovery Alberta is inviting applications for a General Psychiatrist Visting Specialist to join North Zone communities and offer in person services to members of North Zone communities at approximately 12 times per year (2-3 days per visit).
This position will require the selected candidate to sign a Visiting Specialist contract rendering their services.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide services.
- Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care.
- Current Alberta Practice Permit to practice in the advertised position (proof of to be included with application).
- Hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC).
- Recent and relevant experience in all areas of practice required, as Most Responsible Physician.

- Compensation: Fee for Service Through the Outreach and Travelling Physician Support Policy Visiting Specialists are eligible for monetary supports: The outreach financial incentive, at a minimum, requires one way travel greater than 50kms, and pays at $1/kms up to a maximum 500kms one way. Zonal Medical Affairs will calculate payments using a round-trip amount on a monthly basis. For approved outreach service requests AHS will remunerate mileage/car rentals/taxis, meals, flights and accommodation in keeping with the AHS Travel Policy.
