Job description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Midwest region as an Advanced Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist. This role involves providing direct patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab, ensuring the highest standards of procedural support and patient safety.
General Summary
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) is responsible for assisting in all phases of cardiac cath lab procedures, including hemodynamic monitoring and electrocardiograph interpretation. This position requires accountability for the performance of duties during diagnostic and interventional cases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate expertise in all cardiac cath lab procedures, including PTCA, stents, IVUS, Angiojet, cutting balloon, IABP, Rotoblater, and permanent pacemaker or defibrillator insertion.
  • Operate fluoroscopic equipment proficiently and assist as first scrub in diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology studies.
  • Utilize various radiographic injection techniques and manage hemodynamic recording and procedural record equipment.
  • Maintain knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Work collaboratively within a multifunctional team, prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Perform sheath removal and achieve hemostasis using manual and device methods.
  • Manage supplies and equipment inventory, including requisitions and regulatory tracking for implantable devices.
  • Provide leadership and serve as a resource for staff regarding equipment and supplies, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
  • Act as liaison with the Materials Management department to meet clinical needs.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a formal ARRT, RCIS, LPN, RN, or allied health program, or at least one year of practical experience in the health field.
Experience
Preferred two years of experience in an interventional cardiac cath lab. Experience with peripheral vascular angiography and intervention is a plus.
Certification and Licenses
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • IABP experience within six months of hire.
  • Must hold CCI-RCIS and/or ARRT-CI credential or obtain CCI-RCIS within 18 months of hire.

Mental and Physical Requirements
This role requires standing and walking for extended periods, wearing lead aprons during procedures, and occasional stooping, crouching, kneeling, squatting, and sitting. The ability to support, push, pull, or lift weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds is necessary.
Working Conditions
Work environment may include exposure to chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste, radiation, and other hazards, as well as variations in temperature, noise, and odors.
