Position Summary: The Bulk Receiving Technician is responsible for receiving raw ingredients in bulk, verifying incoming loads meet specifications, unloading raw materials, moving trailers using the yard dog and completing all necessary paperwork to meet Food Safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Using yard dog, pull loaded trailer into bulk unloading pit.
  • Weigh and samples load in compliance with previously established raw ingredient specifications, including bulk density readings.
  • Complete written documents for reporting load receipt, weight and other important measures to Operations Manager, quality control, and Plant Controller. Complete all required receipts of materials in WMS program and is responsible for close-out process of the receiver.
  • Unload raw materials according to processes designed to keep product shrink at a minimum.
  • Work with plant production team to ensure timely unloading of raw materials to plant-in locations to meet production schedules.
  • Operate unloading equipment to send raw materials to storage.
  • Maintain cleanliness of unloading dock.
  • Follow and maintain GMP standards at all times.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement ideas and implementation in assigned area.
  • Participate and assist in quarterly inventory process and year-end process.
  • Responsible for daily inventory physical count of plant-in, drop trailers hopper bottom trailers, and bulk bins.
  • Look for ways to minimize the amount of time trucks spend on site at United Petfood.
  • Interact with truck drivers in a professional manner.
  • Follow and hold others accountable for following all company Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Workplace Safety:

  • Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
  • Participates in mandatory safety trainings and adheres to all safety policies
  • Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries

Quality & Food Safety:

  • Completes quality & food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
  • Participates in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements
  • Preserves the integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined. Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies
  • Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the BRC system.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate skill operating yard dog to include hooking and unhooking procedures with storage box trailers.
  • CDL License desirable but not required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Demonstrated ability to drive, drop and hook yard tractor equipment to required delivery areas.
  • Ability to speak and understand the English language.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Self-starter. Can work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare appropriate documentation as required by the position.
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment desirable.
  • Tolerance for both hot and cold environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
