Seaman Corporation is seeking a Raw Materials Specialist to join our Quality team! This position will report to the Quality Supervisor in Wooster, OH.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm

POSITION SUMMARY

The Raw Materials Specialist will conduct raw material testing in support of quality and operational requirements. The Raw Materials Specialist will prepare, submit, review, and file required quality documentation in support of internal customers.  The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented individual capable of generating and interpreting data.  They will work effectively in a team environment and be skilled at multitasking and problem-solving to deliver results in an efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Promote safety and safety awareness by following posted safety and security procedures; log at least 1 safety program participation point a month to ensure awareness and engagement with the safety program; must respond quickly to emergencies in order to prevent injury and damage to personnel and equipment; ensure standard operating procedures are followed, monitored; ensure adherence to company policy and regulations.
  • Comply with complex testing methodologies and deliver consistent and reliable test results.
  • Provide lab support to manufacturing engineers as part of addressing processing and manufacturing issues related to raw materials.
  • Review and store Certificates of Analysis and Safety Data Sheets from raw material vendors. 
  • Conduct raw material testing, as assigned, and coordinate lot shipment approval. 
  • Organize and maintain databases of results.  Monitor long-term trends and make management aware of any variances.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment.
  • Participate in and promote Corporate Lean Sigma Initiative by actively participating in Kaizen Events; ensure 5S is completed according to schedule; maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Successfully worked in a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to learn and function using modern business tools such as: Microsoft Suite, SharePoint, Oracle, Salesforce.
  • Laboratory testing experience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
