Job description

Atlas Roofing Shingle and Underlayment is seeking aRaw Material Processing LeadforClinton, IA.

Raw Material Processing Lead Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor and safely operate the Blow Still, Still Yard, and associated processing equipment.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain systems including the seal-down system, laminate system, coating system, emissions unit, boiler systems, fuel oil system, and other raw material processing equipment.
  • Collect and maintain production, process, and quality data to support operational performance.
  • Perform required coating quality tests and partner with Laboratory Technicians to ensure products consistently meet quality specifications.
  • Work closely with Production to ensure raw materials are available to support manufacturing schedules.
  • Monitor operating conditions to identify and prevent process upsets involving machinery, temperature, steam, air, boilers, and related systems.
  • Perform minor and routine maintenance on Still Yard equipment, assist with general maintenance as needed, and coordinate repairs by submitting work orders and communicating equipment issues to the Maintenance team.
  • Unload raw materials received by truck and rail and coordinate deliveries with transportation providers.
  • Train and qualify as a Blow Still Relief Operator and Emergency Generator Operator.
  • Follow established escalation procedures for safety, quality, and production concerns.
  • Lead by example in performing all job duties safely, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring compliance with all plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety initiatives, continuous improvement initiatives, and complete additional assignments and projects as needed.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned.

Raw Material Processing Lead Experience

  • 3+ years of manufacturing or production experience is required.
  • Previous leadership or lead experience is preferred.
  • Strong understanding and experience working with process equipment, boilers, thermal systems, asphalt processing, or similar industrial operations.

Raw Material Processing Lead Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proven ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Proficient with using computers and business software, including Microsoft Office, email, and internet-based applications.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and maintain consistent attendance.

Raw Material Processing Lead Education, Licenses & Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Raw Material Processing Lead Additional Information

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this position, the Raw Material Processing Lead is regularly required to communicate verbally and hear effectively. The role frequently requires standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs and ladders, grasping, performing fine and gross motor movements, and reaching both forward and above head level throughout the duration of the shift. The employee must be able to work in varying temperature conditions, safely operate assigned machinery, and regularly push, pull and/or lift up to 75 pounds.
