Job description

Mays Chemical, a Ravago company, is seeking a Packaging Technician to work in the Greenwood facility. The selected candidate will report to the Production Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Practice the principals of food safety, quality, and continuous improvement under the GFSI guidelines and follow established cGMP practices
  • Execute pre/post-production sampling plans as required by established procedures
  • Perform repackaging/blending operations
  • Ensure equipment is set-up and properly running in order to execute production plans
  • Inspect containers prior to packaging to ensure they meet established specifications, cleanliness, and conditions
  • Perform the necessary line clearances as required by procedures
  • Accurately complete batch record files. Follow document control procedures
  • Display careful handling in the repackaging of products and containers
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation processes of production equipment and rooms
  • Review and completes inbound receiving transactions
  • Perform quality assurance checks of processed orders prior to shipment
  • Participate in periodic cycle counts
  • Work independently and demonstrates initiative and hard work
  • Successfully interact, communicate, and work with supervisors and personnel
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management
  • Perform janitorial and maintenance tasks as required by supervisor, including minor daily or weekly housekeeping
  • Perform tasks accurately with a sense of orderliness and timeliness while paying attention to detail

Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED, HSE) required
  • Previous experience working in warehouse and/or production environment required
  • Previous experience handling chemical/hazardous materials and operating powered industrial. equipment (forklift, scissor lift, etc.) preferred

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Able to operate forklifts, slip sheet loaders, pallet inverters and drum snatchers
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. independently, and 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Able to work in both Shipping/Receiving and Production Rooms and perform general maintenance to keep work areas clean, organized, and efficient
  • Able to follow instructions and work both collaboratively and independently
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency; maintaining a fast workflow while minimizing errors
  • Follow safety and quality control procedures to ensure product integrity
  • Comfortable with standing, walking, and repetitive tasks throughout the shift
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team-oriented setting
