At KCARC, we believe in empowering people and supporting our staff every step of the way. No experience? No problem. We provide paid training to ensure you feel confident, prepared, and supported from day one.
Evening and overnight shifts are available, with a schedule of three days per week and every other weekend, including holidays.
What You'll Do
In this hands-on, rewarding role, you will:
  • Support participants in home-based and community settings while promoting KCARC's mission and values.
  • Provide Life Skills instruction designed to maximize independence using least-invasive prompting techniques.
  • Ensure participant needs are met in accordance with program guidelines and billable service definitions.
  • Assist with implementing individualized training plans, comprehensive assessments, task analyses, community resource assessments, and data collection.
  • Administer medications as needed and assist participants with personal hygiene and daily living tasks.
  • Strictly follow individualized risk plans, dining plans, wellness plans, and seizure plans as applicable.
  • Provide physical assistance as necessary, including lifting, transferring, positioning, and transporting participants.
  • Complete required documentation such as behavior tracking, task progress, and sleep tracking.
  • Monitor medical needs and provide assistance proactively, including logging required medical routines and medication administration.
  • Assist participants with the use and maintenance of adaptive devices and equipment.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a positive attitude in all work environments.
  • Follow all organizational policies and all local, state, and federal regulations, including ISO standards.
  • Work mandatory additional hours when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
What We're Looking For
You'll thrive in this role if you:
  • Are caring, patient, and respectful of individuals from all backgrounds.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Are comfortable multitasking in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and leadership.
  • Are computer literate and detail-oriented.
  • Maintain good personal hygiene and a professional demeanor.
  • Are physically able to frequently lift up to 75 pounds independently and more than 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Can maintain a flexible schedule to meet program needs.

Education and Experience (Preferred but Not Required)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Three years of driving experience

Required Certifications
  • Medication Administration (Core A and Core B, including side effects and demonstrated competency)
  • CPR and First Aid

Paid training is provided for required certifications.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This role requires the ability to perform physical tasks related to participant care. Work environments may include exposure to outdoor weather conditions, moderate to occasionally loud noise levels, and the use of personal protective equipment such as gloves.
Why Work at KCARC?
