Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Rapid7 Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the final implementation, optimization, and enterprise rollout of its Rapid7 Exposure Command platform.
This consultant will serve as both a hands-on technical expert and a trusted advisor, responsible for validating the current deployment, optimizing platform configurations, enhancing integrations, and helping mature the organization's enterprise vulnerability management and Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) program.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise across the Rapid7 ecosystem and have a proven track record leading enterprise vulnerability management initiatives, platform implementations, and security program improvements.

The organization has already deployed several key Rapid7 components, including:
  • Rapid7 Exposure Command
  • Rapid7 Vulnerability Management
  • Surface Command
  • InsightCloudSec
  • InsightAppSec

Core implementation activities have been completed, including:
  • Platform and console configuration
  • Scanner deployment
  • Agent deployment
  • Site configuration
  • Initial ServiceNow integration

This engagement will focus on assessing the existing environment, validating configurations, implementing best practices, and preparing the platform for full production readiness and operational maturity.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review, assess, and optimize the current Rapid7 Exposure Command implementation.
  • Validate existing platform configurations and provide recommendations aligned with Rapid7 best practices.
  • Assist with authenticated scanning configuration, deployment strategies, and scan optimization.
  • Configure and enhance asset groups, tagging structures, risk prioritization, and dashboard reporting.
  • Develop and improve enterprise vulnerability management workflows and processes.
  • Enhance vulnerability remediation tracking and reporting capabilities.
  • Review and optimize ServiceNow integrations and remediation assignment workflows.
  • Support integrations with cloud platforms, SIEM tools, ticketing systems, and other security technologies.
  • Develop executive-level dashboards, metrics, and reporting capabilities.
  • Identify automation and orchestration opportunities within the Rapid7 ecosystem.
  • Work directly with Rapid7 support to troubleshoot and resolve advanced implementation challenges.
  • Create and finalize technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Provide strategic guidance and best-practice recommendations related to CTEM and vulnerability management maturity.
  • Assist with enterprise rollout planning, adoption, and operational readiness efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • Extensive hands-on experience administering and implementing Rapid7 solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Rapid7 Exposure Command and Vulnerability Management platforms.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or supporting enterprise vulnerability management programs.
  • Strong understanding of vulnerability assessment methodologies, remediation processes, and risk-based prioritization.
  • Experience integrating security platforms with ServiceNow and other enterprise technologies.
  • Ability to evaluate existing deployments and recommend improvements based on industry best practices.
  • Strong technical documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while serving as a strategic advisor and technical contributor.
  • Experience conducting platform assessments, optimization efforts, and operational readiness reviews.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM) programs.
  • Knowledge of Rapid7 automation, APIs, orchestration workflows, and integrations.
  • Experience integrating vulnerability management platforms with cloud security solutions and SIEM platforms.
  • Experience supporting large enterprise, public-sector, or highly regulated environments.
  • Experience providing training, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
  • Familiarity with security operations, risk management, and vulnerability lifecycle management processes.
