ย About the Roleย ย
Otto Aerospace is seeking a dynamic engineer to join our Aircraft Integration Team.ย ย The ideal candidate will have a background in aerospace rapid prototyping, including managing small, dynamic teams, hands-on design, build, and assembly of mockups, prototypes, and test articles, utilizing 3D-printed, wooden, metallic, fiberglass, and carbon-fiber construction.ย ย You will be joining a team developing the world's most efficient aircraft. Otto Aerospace is seeking first-principles engineers who work well in a team atmosphere and know how to get things done.ย
Whatย You'llย Doย
- Be a functioning team member within Otto's Aircraft Integration Team.ย
- Manage a small team ofย rapid prototyping engineersย
- Developย workflowย processes forย mockups and test articles of various levels of complexity from various requestorsย
- Lead the design, fabrication, and assembly of low-to-highย fidelity aerospace prototypes,ย mockups, and test rigsย both in and out of houseย
- Select materials,ย components, and fabrication methodsย suitable for performance, cost, andย build speed requirementsย
- Translate concepts, ideas, and sketches into function hardware and test rigs.ย
- Support design and fabrication of supplier on-site buildsย
- Manage, mentor,ย and guideย teammatesย through rapid prototyping buildsย
- Hands on fabrication, build, and assemblyย
- Document build processes, test results, and design iterationsย to support engineering and certification efforts.ย
- Manage costs, schedules, andย resourcesย requiredย for eachย build.ย
- Ordering,ย purchasing, and retrievalย ofย components and supplies.ย
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure prototypes meet performance and integration requirementsย
- Perform andย participateย in trade studies to influence keyย aircraftย decisions.ย
- Maintain a clean and safe working environmentย
Who You Areย
Educationย
- B.S.ย in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent.ย
Experienceย
- Minimumย 8ย yearsย rapid prototype experience, preferably inย aerospaceย
- Experience managing a small diverse team preferred.ย
- Skills in CATIA V5/V6/3DX (or similar); 3DX is preferred.ย
- Hands-on experience with shop tools and equipment including drills, saws, lathes, mills, welders, routers, etc.ย
- Strong understanding of materials (plastics,ย woods,ย metals, composites), their uses, and manufacturing techniques.ย
- Overall knowledge of mechanical systems, propulsion, structures,ย avionics,ย and key interfaces toย aircraftย systems common on Part 23 / Part 25ย aircraft.ย
- Strong knowledge of industry standardsย withย hands-on experience.ย
- Basic understanding of Product Lifecycle Management processes.ย
- Familiarity with RTCA DO-160G, DO-254, and SAE ARP4754A.ย
- Familiarity with FAR Part 23 and Part 25 requirements.ย

- Electromechanical integration andย test.ย
- Understanding basic LV/HV wiring.ย
- Logisticsย and shipping experience or understanding ofย logisticsย and shippingย

**This position will work onsite at our temporary headquarters in Ft Worth, TX then move to onsite at our new location in Jacksonville, FL upon facility readinessย
