Job description

Position Summary

Provide insight, guidance, recommendations, and action plans regarding category opportunities and key goals including product assortment, shelving, pricing, and promotion planning for all assigned categories in collaboration with sales and marketing teams. Identify actionable insights and provide tactical direction for sales teams to achieve brand objectives.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop presentations that support category direction as well as marketing and sales initiatives, including customer category reviews, new item presentations, category assessments, management reviews, and marketing plans.
  • Build and maintain pricing strategies in collaboration with Sales and Marketing management.
  • Provide selling tools and analytical support, including data and analysis that support key retailer objectives and requests from sales and marketing teams, including Business Plan, Brand, Innovation, Category, and Shopper/Channel insights.
  • Create dashboard sales reports for the organization providing status updates and causal factors.
  • Execute category planning processes and provide fact-based recommendations with supporting data primarily for local and less complex customers in collaboration with the sales team.
  • Validate brand segmentation across geographies/categories and build brand fact bases.
  • Generate, analyze, and track promotional spend reports to determine effectiveness of spending.
  • Generate, analyze, and distribute reporting information including Executive Management reports, Brand Rank and UPC Rank reports, New Item and Discontinued Item reports, and reports requested by Sales for customer business reviews and sales presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Marketing, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • One year of experience in Syndicated Data and/or Consumer Packaged Goods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SAP experience.
  • Experience in a broker or sales analyst role.
  • Database management experience in SQL, ACCESS, or similar systems.
  • Consumer Packaged Goods experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in analytical, quantitative, and statistical techniques used to derive insights from large and complex data environments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure, meet deadlines, maintain professionalism, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Experience with product launches, market share analysis, category trends, promotional analysis, retailer share of market, and competitive analysis.
  • Knowledge of industry tools such as IRI/Nielsen, Spectra, NPD, and trade planning software.
Environmental/Working Conditions
  • Ability to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing.
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
