POSITION SUMMARY
The Camps lifeguard will play a key role in creating a safe, fun and memorable experience. Collaborate with the waterfront supervisor, ensuring every moment at the waterfront is exciting and secure. Inspire confidence in staff, campers and guests by leading engaging training sessions focused on waterfront procedures and boating safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(General overview and may include all details of responsibilities)
  • Supervises swimming activities at the waterfront and ensures that policies, guidelines and safety procedures are followed.
  • Warn and educate swimmers of improper activities or danger areas.
  • Enforce waterfront regulations and water safety policies.
  • Oversee swimmers the waterfront area and taking action in the following areas if necessary:
  • Rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning.
  • Administer first aid in the event of injury
  • Provide CPR and/or artificial respiration if necessary.
  • Access water conditions to ensure safety and take prompt action by implementing the aquatics emergency plan whenever necessary.
  • Evaluate conditions for safety and initiate aquatics emergency action plan as required.
  • Inspect waterfront, dock and additional equipment to ensure that they are safe and usable.
  • Supervise and assist in cleaning facilities area and equipment.
  • Ensure that first aid supplies remains stocked and maintained and that equipment is in good order and placed properly at the start of each shift.
  • Fill out required check lists and attend scheduled lifeguard trainings and meetings.
  • Other waterfront projects as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
  • Is a committed Christian who is dedicated to continued spiritual growth and development as evidenced through a growing personal walk with God (e.g. daily spiritual rhythms of prayer, fellowship, Bible study, etc.).
  • Prayerfully seeks God's will in their own lives and in their ministry at CRISTA.
  • Engages our ministry including staff and colleagues through prayer, participation in spiritual practices, leading devotionals and other spiritual practices.
  • Affirms, aligns with and supports CRISTA's Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement (CCC).
  • Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
  • Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
EDUCATION
  • High School or higher.
EXPERIENCE
  • 18 years or older preferred (those under 18 will be considered on an individual basis).
  • Prior experience working with children.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
  • Must have or be able to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (Provided before summer staff training weeks).
  • Current certification in first aid and CPR.
SOFTWARE / EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
  • Must be attentive and able to give directions.
  • Responsible, dependable, level-headed, flexible and calm in all situations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE
  • Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.
