Ramp Officer information

Do ramp agents make a lot of money?

Ramp agents typically earn an hourly wage that is around the national average for airport support staff, with salaries increasing with experience and certifications. Many also receive benefits such as health insurance and flight privileges, but overall, the pay is generally considered moderate rather than high. Earnings can vary based on location, airline, and shift differentials.

What are some common challenges faced by Ramp Officers, and how can they be effectively managed?

Ramp Officers frequently encounter challenges such as working in all weather conditions, coordinating tight turnaround times, and ensuring safety while handling aircraft, baggage, and ground equipment. Effective communication with pilots, ground staff, and air traffic controllers is crucial to prevent delays and maintain safety standards. Staying organized, adhering strictly to safety protocols, and being adaptable under pressure are key strategies for successfully managing these challenges.

What are Ramp Officers?

Ramp Officers are aviation professionals responsible for overseeing and coordinating ground operations at airports, particularly those involving aircraft on the ramp or apron area. Their duties include guiding aircraft to and from gates, supervising baggage and cargo loading, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and communicating with pilots and ground crew. Ramp Officers play a vital role in maintaining efficient, timely, and secure airport operations, helping to minimize delays and prevent accidents. They often work in all weather conditions and must be knowledgeable about airport safety regulations.

What is the difference between Ramp Officer vs Baggage Handler?

Both Ramp Officers and Baggage Handlers work in airport ground operations, often within the same environment. Ramp Officers focus on aircraft safety, marshalling, and ground handling, while Baggage Handlers specialize in managing passenger luggage. Understanding these roles helps job seekers identify the right position based on their skills and interests.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Ramp Officer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Ramp Officer, you need a solid understanding of ground handling operations, safety protocols, and physical fitness, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with ground service equipment, radio communication systems, and airport safety certifications such as IATA or OSHA is highly beneficial. Attention to detail, teamwork, effective communication, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure are crucial soft skills in this role. These qualifications and skills ensure safe, timely aircraft operations and help maintain airport efficiency and security.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A Ramp Officer in the aviation industry can potentially earn around $10,000 per month with experience and specialized skills, such as aircraft handling, safety procedures, and certification. High-paying roles often require physical fitness, security clearances, and on-the-job training, but they typically do not require a college degree.

How to become a ramp officer?

To become a ramp officer, candidates typically need a high school diploma or equivalent and must pass background checks and drug tests. Prior experience in airport operations or related fields can be beneficial, and some employers may require certification in safety or security procedures. Physical fitness and the ability to work in outdoor environments and irregular hours are also important.

Is it hard to get hired as a Ramp Agent?

Getting hired as a Ramp Agent can be competitive, as it often requires physical stamina, attention to safety procedures, and sometimes a valid driver's license or certification. Employers typically look for reliable candidates with good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, but the hiring process is generally straightforward for those meeting the basic requirements.

Job description

Mortgage Loan Officer
Oaktree Direct (Oaktree Funding)
Chandler, AZ - In Office
The Opportunity
Oaktree Direct is hiring Loan Officers who want real opportunity, consistent deal flow, and a clear path to higher earnings.
We currently have more purchase opportunities and Realtor relationships than we have Loan Officers to handle them. This role is built for professionals who can step into a production environment and convert opportunity into closings.
If you're tired of feast-or-famine pipelines and want a place where you can focus on closing deals instead of constantly chasing business, this role is worth a conversation.
What makes this different is the model:
Income now: Company opportunities and Realtor partnerships to help you fund deals immediately.
Wealth later: The ability to build your own Realtor and LO network that can create long-term residual income.
Most LO roles offer one or the other. This role is designed to provide both.
Compensation
Ramp Structure:
$40,000 base
50 bps per funded loan ($4,500 max per file)
Growth Path (typically after ~6 months):
~150 bps per loan
No base
Full production upside
Built pipeline to support higher income
Most LOs transition once their pipeline becomes strong and consistent.
What You'll Work With
  • Company provided purchase opportunities
  • Assigned Realtor relationships
  • Agent outreach opportunities
  • Personal production
  • Strong operational support
  • Ability to build long-term referral and recruiting relationships

Additional Income Opportunity
In addition to loan commissions, Loan Officers have the ability to build long-term residual income by developing Realtor and Loan Officer relationships within Oaktree's platform.
This allows strong producers to create leverage beyond their personal production over time.
What We're Looking For
  • Licensed Mortgage Loan Officer
  • Strong conversion skills
  • Comfortable handling volume
  • Relationship builder mentality
  • Organized and production driven
  • Wants to grow income through execution
  • Interested in long-term income growth, not just per-deal commissions

Why This Role Exists
We are building a team of Loan Officers who want to produce, not just prospect. This is a strong fit for LOs who know they could close more loans if they simply had more opportunity in front of them.
This is a production role for closers who also think long-term about building their business.
Location
Chandler, AZ (in office)
Next Step
If you believe you could produce more in the right environment, let's talk.
