Job description

Server – JINYA Ramen BarJob Summary

At JINYA Ramen Bar, our Servers are brand ambassadors who deliver a fun, relaxed, and exceptional dining experience. As a Server, you will be approachable, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, ensuring JINYA’s service standards and steps of service are executed flawlessly.

Servers work in unison to create memorable guest experiences by delivering outstanding hospitality, expert menu knowledge, and a genuine appreciation for Japanese ramen culture.

Primary ResponsibilitiesGuest Service & Hospitality
  • Provide attentive, professional, and positive service to all guests

  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and deliver items promptly

  • Execute JINYA’s steps of service and up-selling techniques

  • Guide guests through menu offerings, daily specials, and dietary considerations

  • Deliver an exceptional dining experience from greeting through farewell

Guest Engagement & Brand Culture
  • Greet guests upon arrival and assist with seating or wait-list timing when necessary

  • Participate in JINYA’s signature greetings such as “Irasshai” and “Arigato”

  • Create emotional connections with guests while promoting JINYA’s ramen and tapas offerings

  • Respond to minor guest concerns and escalate major issues to management

Operations & Team Support
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bar area and any guest-visible spaces

  • Support front-of-house operations including beverage refills, table maintenance, resetting tables, polishing plates and glassware

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with front-of-house and back-of-house teams

  • Answer phone calls, take reservations, manage seating rotation, and assist with host responsibilities when needed

  • Maintain knowledge of restaurant information including hours, menu, allergens, payment options, and table numbers

Required Competencies
  • Minimum 2–3 years of server experience, preferably in a high-volume restaurant

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Positive attitude and ability to perform under pressure

  • Experience operating a POS system and/or reservation platforms such as OpenTable

  • Ability to lead by example and inspire teamwork

  • Dependable, reliable, and self-motivated

  • Experience working in a multicultural environment

  • Flexible availability including weekends and holidays

Education & Certifications
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

  • Must obtain and maintain required city, state, and federal certifications, including alcohol service and food handling permits

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional, high-energy restaurant environment. Team members routinely move between dining room and kitchen areas while handling trays, glassware, plates, and other restaurant equipment.

Servers may occasionally use ladders to retrieve overhead items and must communicate clearly and accurately with guests and team members at all times.

Physical Demands
  • Frequently stand and walk for extended periods

  • Use hands and arms to handle trays, plates, and glassware

  • Lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds safely

  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments that may be hot, humid, or wet
