Could you be the full-time on-site System Engineer in Washington, DC (Ivy City Amtrak Facility) we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to Maintenance Project Lead System Engineer, and work alongside exceptional, enthusiastic and collaborative teammates. You'll be creating great value as you use your engineering skills to maximize performance and reliability from a maintenance perspective while working with next generation high speed rail transportation projects. You’ll specifically take care of failure analysis, performance reviews, and proposing improvements to address fixes required.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Manage technical subjects related to Train design.
  • Monitor system performance (Safety, Reliability, Serviceability, Future Obsolescence).
  • Manage all technical subjects related to Maintenance
  • Provide technical inputs to the whole Maintenance Site organization.

All about you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in engineering related field - system engineering
  • Experience in at least one of the following specialized areas within rail, transportation, or related heavy industry: hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electronics/electrical hardware, railway door systems, railway signaling systems, railway HVAC, or railway mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with Life Cycle Cost.
  • Experience working ‘hands on’ with railway equipment (ideally in the environment of Rolling Stock warranty and reliability growth) is desired. 
  • Knowledge of railway systems is desired.
  • Utilize your skills in strategic system thinking.

Base salary range: $105,000 - $120,000

Location and Travel

  • On-site position based in Washington, DC (Ivy City Yard Amtrak facility), some remote work flexibility.
  • Average travel: 20% time, especially to the other train maintenance facilities of Boston, MA and Long Island City, NY.
