JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position will be responsible for loading renewable diesel into rail cars and unloading feedstocks from rail cars or trucks into bulk storage tanks. May perform a variety of other tasks relating to receipt and shipment of products, such as pulling samples of products to be tested for product quality, performing visual and mechanical inspections on equipment, documenting and approving transport vessel integrity for shipment via rail. Successful applicants will also be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Annual respiratory fit test, pulmonary function test, and audiometric testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule (including nights, holidays, and weekends)
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and requirements
  • Must be available for on-call/relief duties
  • Performs track checks and ensures correct rail cars are on site
  • Loads renewable diesel into rail cars. Unloads feedstocks from trucks or rail cars.
  • Monitors product movement to and from storage tanks, coordinating activities with other operators to ensure constant product flow.
  • Operates industrial equipment to move rail cars to and from loading areas
  • Checks conditions of vessels to ensure cleanliness and compliance with loading procedures and all other applicable regulations.
  • Inspects and ensures all shipping vessels are mechanically sound, leak-free, properly labeled, and ready for shipment per applicable regulations.
  • Accurately records loading information such as products and quantities pumped, gauge readings, and operating times, manually or using computers.
  • Making periodic rounds per shift, monitoring the tank levels and transfers, tank gauging, collecting samples, monitoring load/unload operations, equipment isolation (LOTO), and coordinating with the railroad for rail switches
  • Detect and respond to leaks and other emergency situations and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to visually monitor computer screens and control points when assigned (including for extended periods of time)
  • Strong work ethic, including but not limited to strong communication skills, hardworking, dedicated, and punctual
  • Willingness to perform incipient fire response and other emergency response activities as trained
  • Be fit to perform the essential functions of the job. Be comfortable working in an industrial work environment that may include loud areas, work at heights, extreme temperatures, dust, entry into confined spaces, and other potential chemical/atmospheric hazards that require the use of appropriate PPE.
  • Requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent walking, standing for extended periods of time, climbing ladders or stairs, and lifting or carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, including job-specific technical language, sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
  • Must be able to legally work in the US without sponsorship.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES:

  • Relevant education and/or training such as: 2 years vocational technical training curriculum in petrochemical/manufacturing or related field
  • 2 years of experience working in load or unload rail/truck positions
  • DCS operation experience (DeltaV, iFix, Control Logix, SCADA, other HMI-based programs)
  • 2 years of experience working in a process operational/maintenance craft area, stable work experience in an agricultural, industrial, or commercial industry?
  • Experience with operations in Renewable/Bio Diesel, Steam Reformation, Vegetable Oil Refining, Oil and Gas Industry, Wastewater Treatment, Boiler operations, Utility operations, Hydro Processing, and or a PSM-regulated facility
