Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Supply Chain Planning Manager is responsible for developing production schedules and monitoring the performance of the Amsted Rail – Bearings production teams against those schedules. This role focuses on planning and analyzing demand and supply to ensure customer requirements are met while balancing capacity constraints, material availability, resource allocation, and financial objectives for the assigned business areas. The ideal candidate will lead Bearings supply chain planning and support operations in Petersburg and Mexico by helping ensure safety, quality, productivity, and service standards are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will have 3–4 years of planning experience in a manufacturing environment, experience with ERP systems, and a proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.  This role is ideal for a data-driven planner who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys cross-functional collaboration.  Join Amsted Rail today and help shape the future of supply chain performance in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without accommodation.

  • Leads monthly S&OP process so that the various business groups are aligned for the upcoming 12 months’ requirements
  • Works with Sales to maintain monthly APO files and provide lead-time guidance to the sales team
  • Develops Master Production Schedule (MPS) and formal production schedules on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Manages short-term operational efficiencies, capacities and inventories to identify supply interruptions to customers
  • Develops inventory targets and monitors inventory levels to optimize operations, service levels and working capital investment
  • Serves as liaison between international partners, sales, customer service representatives, scheduling, purchasing, and internal operations customers
  • Helps ensure inventory accuracy through proper transaction processing and by leading routine cycle counts, audits, and annual physical inventory
  • Leads collaborative planning processes with domestic and foreign joint ventures, strategic customers, and suppliers
  • Measures and reports key supply chain metrics, including forecast accuracy, on-time delivery, and inventory turns, and identifies additional metrics to evaluate overall supply chain performance
  • Leads efforts to ensure SAP data is accurate and complete to create clean MRP signals for operations and purchasing
  • Partners with Engineering to set up new parts in SAP
  • Adhere to plant-wide safety, ergonomics and environmental requirements defined by Amsted Rail; outlined by the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering, business administration or related field of study; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system experience required, SAP and/or SAP APO (Advanced Planning Optimization) strongly preferred
  • APICS Certifications such as CPIM or CSCP a plus
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening (including THC) and a background check
  • Able to regularly move throughout the facility as needed
