Rafting guides are trained professionals who lead and navigate groups of people on whitewater rafting trips. They are responsible for ensuring the safety of participants, providing instructions on paddling techniques, and reading river conditions to avoid hazards. Rafting guides also enhance the experience by sharing information about the local environment and wildlife. Their expertise is crucial for making rafting adventures both exciting and safe.

What are common challenges faced by rafting guides and how can they be managed?

Rafting Guides often encounter challenges such as unpredictable weather, varying river conditions, and managing the safety and expectations of diverse groups of participants. Effective communication, thorough pre-trip briefings, and strong situational awareness are key to addressing these challenges. Guides must be prepared to adapt routes, provide clear instructions, and maintain a calm demeanor under pressure to ensure both safety and a positive guest experience. Being proactive in equipment checks and staying updated on river conditions also help mitigate risks and keep trips running smoothly.

Job description

Senior Director of Medical Imaging Operations and Growth

Compass Peak Imaging | Glenwood Springs, Colorado

About Compass Peak Imaging

Compass Peak Imaging is a small agile independent outpatient imaging center in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, providing MRI, CT, ultrasound, and X-ray services. We are building the most trusted independent medical imaging services in the region by combining clinical quality, operational discipline, strong local relationships, with an exceptional patient experience.

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Medical Imaging Operations and Growth will serve as the on‑site leader responsible for helping direct operations, improve, and grow the business. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who operates like an owner, builds systems, develops people, solves business problems, and drives measurable results. The owners are remote by design and will set strategy, approve major decisions, allocate capital, and support the business. This role is the leader physically on‑site and the face of the business locally.

Key Responsibilities

This is a build role, not a maintenance role. The Senior Director of Medical Imaging Operations and Growth will be expected to identify opportunities, diagnose problems, create practical corrective action plans, follow through, and ensure that solutions produce results.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead day‑to‑day operations and provide clear direction to the on‑site team.
  • Improve patient flow, scheduling, order conversion, and overall operational performance.
  • Identify barriers to growth and work with the owners to remove them.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with referring providers, partners, and the local community.
  • Create systems, processes, and accountability routines that help the team perform consistently.
  • Develop people, support team communication, and reinforce a culture of ownership and service.
  • Track performance, measure outcomes, and use data to guide decisions.
  • Recommend areas of operations that the business should initiate or develop, discontinue, continue, or expand upon.
What We Are Looking For

This role is best suited for a builder: someone who naturally notices opportunities, solves problems, creates systems, develops people, builds relationships, and follows through until results are achieved.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Think like an owner and take responsibility for outcomes.
  • Enjoy solving business problems and improving performance.
  • Be comfortable with autonomy, accountability, and decision‑making responsibilities.
  • Earn trust as the local leader of the team for patients, providers, and the community.
  • Finish what they start by closing loops, measuring results, and making improvements that produce positive outcomes.
  • Care deeply about building something meaningful.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage operations, and drive measurable results.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and comfort working in a fast‑moving, hands‑on environment.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal teams, external partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, follow‑through, and accountability habits.
  • Healthcare experience is highly desirable but not required.
  • Experience in medical imaging, outpatient healthcare, provider relations, operations, sales, or local business growth is a plus.
Who Thrives Here
  • People who want real responsibility, not just a management title.
  • People who are energized by building, improving, and growing a business.
  • People who like being measured by results.
  • People who can lead locally while partnering effectively with remote owners.
  • People who want a great career and a great life in a mountain community.
Location and Lifestyle

This position is based in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The area offers world‑class skiing, mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, rafting, a strong community, and a family‑friendly environment.

Compensation

We believe the people who help create value should participate in the value they create. This role offers competitive base compensation and meaningful performance‑based incentives. Strong years should feel like strong years. Sign‑on Bonus and relocation assistance is available.

Why This Role Matters

If you are looking for a comfortable maintenance role, this probably is not the right fit. If you want to help build something meaningful, be trusted with real responsibility, lead locally, and participate in the upside you help create, we would love to talk.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume and a brief note describing why this role interests you and what you have built, improved, or grown in a prior role.
