Job description

Crisis Mental Health Clinician / Community Crisis Response

A community-focused healthcare organization in the West Georgia region is seeking a full-time Crisis Mental Health Clinician to join a collaborative crisis response program. This role is ideal for a licensed behavioral health professional who is comfortable working in the community, partnering with first responders, and helping individuals experiencing behavioral health emergencies receive appropriate care and support. The position offers a Monday through Thursday schedule, competitive salary, strong benefits, and the chance to be part of a meaningful mental health integration program focused on crisis intervention, de-escalation, and connection to care.

Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Respond to behavioral health crisis calls in the community alongside police, EMTs, firefighters, and other first responders.
  • Conduct on-scene mental health assessments to determine appropriate care needs and intervention options.
  • Provide crisis de-escalation, safety planning, and short-term case management.
  • Help connect individuals to mental health treatment, substance use services, social services, and other community resources.
  • Support diversion from unnecessary hospitalization or incarceration when clinically appropriate.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, referrals, and follow-up needs.
  • Participate in team debriefings, training sessions, and case consultations.
  • Provide compassionate, trauma-informed advocacy for individuals experiencing mental health crises.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and organizational policies.

Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • Monday through Thursday.
  • 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
  • Community-based crisis response role.
  • Some flexibility may be needed based on program or patient needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Current clinical licensure such as LCSW, LPC, LMHC, or equivalent state license.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in crisis intervention, emergency psychiatric services, or community mental health.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, and mental health crisis intervention models.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with law enforcement, fire, EMS, clinical teams, and community partners.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the community as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with co-response teams, law enforcement, fire departments, or emergency medical services.
  • Familiarity with local mental health and social service resources.
  • Training in Crisis Intervention Team models, Motivational Interviewing, or Mental Health First Aid.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers:

  • Salary range of $69,426-$86,782 annually.
  • 100% employer-paid medical coverage.
  • Employer-paid long-term disability coverage.
  • No-cost dental and vision services at organization clinics.
  • Additional dental, vision, and short-term disability coverage available for purchase at reduced cost.
  • 403(b) retirement plan.
  • CME and expense reimbursement.
  • Generous paid time off.
  • Paid holidays.

This position is part of a grant-funded mental health integration initiative involving healthcare, law enforcement, fire, and emergency response partners. The clinician will work in both community and administrative settings, with regular movement throughout the community and occasional exposure to high-stress crisis situations.

If you are a licensed mental health clinician looking for a full-time crisis response role where your work can directly impact individuals, families, and the broader community, this opportunity is worth a conversation.
