VHC Health is seeking a collaborative and clinically skilled Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing Interventional Radiology program. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a high-performing team of interventional radiologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and technologists in a comprehensive procedural practice serving both inpatient and outpatient populations.

The Advanced Practice Provider will play an integral role in the evaluation, coordination, and management of patients undergoing minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Working closely with Interventional Radiologists, this role supports the continuum of care through patient assessment, inpatient and outpatient consultations, peri-procedural management, patient education, procedural support, and longitudinal follow-up care.
This is a full-time, hospital-based position located on the main VHC Health campus in Arlington, Virginia. The APP will collaborate with multiple specialties including oncology, vascular surgery, nephrology, hepatology, trauma, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, and other medical and surgical services.
Responsibilities Include

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations.
• Evaluate and prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures.
• Manage inpatient and outpatient consultations and follow-up visits.
• Provide peri-procedural and post-procedural care.
• Round on hospitalized patients and coordinate ongoing care plans.
• Order, review, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies relevant to patient management.
• Develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.
• Coordinate care transitions and ensure continuity of care across service lines.
• Document clinical encounters, procedures, and treatment plans.
• Perform procedures within scope of practice and credentialing requirements.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, protocol development, and program growth efforts.

Candidate Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner Candidates

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Board certification as AGACNP, FNP, ANP, or equivalent.
• Current or eligible Virginia Nurse Practitioner license.
• DEA certification or eligibility.

Physician Assistant Candidates

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• NCCPA certification required.
• Current or eligible Virginia Physician Assistant license.
• DEA certification or eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications for All Candidates

• Experience in Interventional Radiology, Critical Care, Vascular Surgery, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, or a related specialty.
• Strong clinical judgment, assessment, and patient management skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork abilities.

Job Description
Purpose & Scope:
An Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) employed by VHC Health Physicians ("Physician Group") is required to complete an APP Agreement with their Collaborating Physician(s). This Agreement will describe the APP's role and function, APP/Physician Relationship, Functions of the APP, Privileges/Procedures, Prescriptive Authority, Documentation Responsibilities and Evaluation process.
Overall, the APP will support objectives, budget, performance metrics and medical activities at an Individual level including implementation of quality control standards, risk management and compliance programs.
Education:
Master's in Nursing Required or Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
Experience:
Two Years Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant by the Virginia Department of Health Professions Required.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions Required for NPs.
Current NCCPA certification required; and BLS certification required; and
ACLS certification preferred for PAs.
