Job description
Candidates who are ARRT Registered X-ray technologists who are willing to cross-train in CT will be considered. Initial training may be during daytime hours.
Healthcare benefits and shift differential offered
Shift: Thursday, Friday 8:00 pm - 8:00 am (daytime hours may be required during training)
Location: Concord, NC
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs excellent patient care for all CT scan and x-rays. Quickly and accurately completes all paperwork to include orders, lab work and authorization confirmation. Monitoring the safety of patients pertaining to radiation and contrast dose.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Examines orders and verifies request on patients. Addresses any questionable orders to Radiologist before procedures. Operates CT equipment with proficiency. Operates Injector with proficiency
- Operate X-ray equipment with proficiency
- Paperwork/orders, email order request and authorization. Records medical history on designated history form. Correlates test results and other lab data with exam being performed
- Performs IVs, give patients oral contrast, do lab work if needed
- Monitor supplies/stock room
- Communicate with radiologist for protocols as needed
- Communicate with pacs/IT for imaging distribution if necessary
Qualifications:
- CT experience
- Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology
- ARRT registered in CT
- BLS
- Must be able to perform procedures in accordance to departmental protocols and standards. Operates CT scanners, X-ray equipment, IV contrast injectors O2 tanks. Computer literate and knowledgeable of CR programs
- Must be up to date with local and federal regulations that apply to their licensure and role
- Must be able to access all patient history to review any allergies that could interfere with the patient’s test
- Must be able to communicate with the Radiologist or referring MD if a protocol needs to be obtained or a test needs to be altered
- Must be able to report malfunctioning equipment to the Radiology engineer
- Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift the appropriate weight determined by CR (50-75 lbs.)
- Must have positive communication skills
- Performs basic patient care functions and informs the Radiologist or nurse of any change in the patient’s condition if needed
- Must be competent with IVs
- Travel required: 0 – 25%
