Job description

Position is responsible for performing diagnostic medical ultrasound examinations not requiring constant supervision of technical details with a comprehensive knowledge of ultrasound examinations. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas or procedures as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
  • Produces diagnostic ultrasound with the ability to recognize visualized anatomy and pathology in all ultrasound modalities
  • Selects proper type of equipment (transducers, frequency, Doppler, etc) as required for each examination
  • Consistently demonstrates technical proficiency in producing diagnostic scans
  • Explains procedures and equipment to patients and checks for understanding
  • Ensures that the patient's needs for privacy and confidentiality are met and that the patient is physically covered whenever possible
  • Consistently uses and reinforces proper body mechanics and appropriate personal protection equipment
  • Self-identifies unsafe systems, processes and/or situations and reports the using the appropriate forms
  • Consistently demonstrates knowledge of infection control standards
  • Maintains a clean, neat and safe environment for patients and staff according to company and department policies
  • Assists in the development of new procedures and techniques as required
  • Performs general office duties such as ordering supplies and equipment as needed
  • Ensures that the delivery of services reflects efficient and effective use of supplies and appropriate utilization of resources
  • Attends and participates in educational programs and shares knowledge with peers
  • Adheres to Universal Precautions at all times
  • Adheres to safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Uses, protects, and discloses patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
  • Graduate of AMA-approved school of Radiological Technology
  • RDMS registration for multi-disciplinary status
  • 3 years of ultrasound experience
  • General knowledge of General Ultrasound, Small Parts and Vascular
  • Valid California driver's license required and insurability under the company's insurance carrier standards as applicable to job requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of formal Vascular Technology Program
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross)
  • 1 years of vascular experience with patients
  • Experience in multiple ultrasound specialties, including abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN, or small parts imaging
  • Experience working in a multi-specialty outpatient or ambulatory care setting
  • Bilingual Spanish

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $29 - $52 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
