Job description

Radioactive Waste Technician
Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental Technician for our Somerset, NJ team.
This highly motivated, detail-oriented, customer service-focused individual will be responsible forworking on site for the client by helping them manage their hazardous waste programs.

This position reports to the Operations Manager
Responsibilities:
Technical:
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality
  • Flexibility with working schedule as start and end times may vary
  • Developing a strong working knowledge local site requirements and state and local regulations
  • Assist EHS team as requested
  • Participate in Rad focused training and development

Hands-on:
  • Handle chemicals and hazardous waste in small and large containers
  • Handle low level radioactive waste
  • Utilize a Geiger counter as well as other tools to assess levels of radiation in industrial waste streams
  • Perform onsite waste management routine & regulatory inspections
  • Prepare and manage routine waste shipments including creating all transportation documents as required by regulations
  • Willingness to wear a respirator when necessary

Customer Service:
  • Provide clients with high-quality and professional customer service
  • Professional attitude, high energy, and high-level communication skills required when dealing directly with client representatives

Basic Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Basic knowledge of, or interest in, the hazardous waste field.
  • 1+ years of customer service experience.
  • Self-motivated person with the desire to learn.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation
  • Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC)
  • Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC) as part of our company's commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to work overtime on when needed
  • The Environmental Technician frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste and is responsible for putting on and taking off personal protective equipment. This role is considered safety-sensitive.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Prior relevant industry experience
  • Active HAZWOPER 24 or 40 hour certification
  • Radioactive Waste Experience
