Job description

Location: Raleigh, NC area (Walmart parking lots $ Inside Patrol)
Pay: $27.00 / hour
Shift: Primarily nights / weekends (varies by site) — on-call and scheduled shifts available

Quick summary

We’re hiring experienced, licensed armed security officers to perform roving lot and parking-lot/ Inside patrols for Walmart properties. You’ll be the visible deterrent, respond to incidents, support store managers, and keep customers and property safe while following all company policies and Alaska law.


Key responsibilities
  • Conduct regular vehicle and foot patrols of Walmart parking lots and perimeter to deter theft, trespass, loitering, and criminal activity.

  • Monitor parking lot activity and report suspicious persons/vehicles to store management and law enforcement as appropriate.

  • Respond to incidents, de-escalate situations verbally whenever possible, and summon police when required. Follow company use-of-force and firearms policies at all times.

  • Assist with vehicle theft prevention, lost persons, disorderly conduct, and parking/traffic concerns.

  • Complete clear, timely incident reports and activity logs (paper and/or digital) after each shift.

  • Work collaboratively with store management, loss prevention, and local law enforcement.

  • Maintain professional uniform, radio/phone, and patrol vehicle standards.

  • Conduct basic vehicle checks (locked/unlocked, suspicious items) and report hazards (lighting, potholes).

  • Be prepared to provide testimony or statements to law enforcement if needed.


Required Qualifications – Armed Security (North Carolina)
  • Current North Carolina Armed Security License (PPSP) — must be valid and in good standing. Proof of licensing is required at the time of application.

  • Documented firearms training and current qualification certification per North Carolina Private Protective Services Board (NC PPSB) standards.

  • Clean criminal history — no felony convictions and no disqualifying misdemeanor convictions (subject to company policy and NC PPSB regulations).

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (must be insurable); reliable transportation to and from the site.

  • Minimum age: 21 years old, and legally permitted to carry a firearm under state and federal law.

  • Previous experience in armed security, patrol, loss prevention, or law enforcement is strongly preferred.

  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to de-escalate conflicts effectively.

  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.

  • Must be physically capable of performing all patrol duties (walking, standing, climbing stairs, entering/exiting a vehicle repeatedly, etc.).

 Preferred / Nice-to-have/ Required:
MUST HAVE ARMED PPSB LICENSE!
  • Experience patrolling retail environments or large parking lots.

  • Prior loss prevention or retail security experience.

  • First aid/CPR certification.

  • Familiarity with incident reporting software or two-way radio procedures.
    We are willing to train guards with prior experience.


Pay & perks:
