Job description

Operations Manager


Objective

The Operations Manager needs to have knowledge of narrow and wide body aircraft, into-plane and third party GSE fueling, and ground handling. The Operations Manager will be directly responsible for overseeing the operation & special services personnel, take accountability for safety, resource management in those areas, operation standards, policy implementation and client relations, as well as controlling and managing the operations budget targets.


Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Responsible for Passenger Service and Ramp Operations (ramp including into-plane fueling and third party fueling, and ground handling).
  2. Full accountability to the General Manager for Health & Safety issues, operational and financial performance.
  3. Planning resource allocation in each business unit to include staff planning in line with customer requirements and budget
  4. Routine liaison with customer representatives.
  5. Liaison with internal and external customers and agencies.
  6. Producing routine reports.
  7. Supporting the development of the business units with accurate and timely project work.
  8. Leading the station equipment planning cycle.
  9. Ensuring compliance with all internal and external operational and administrative requirements.
  10. Ensure the safe and secure operations, in accordance with the highest possible standards of health, safety, security and all government statutory requirements.
  11. Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, including coaching, disciplinary and positive recognition
  12. Mentor employees for promotional opportunities
  13. Work closely with HR department to provide effective training and development program
  14. Hold supervisor/lead team accountable for timely and effectively handling of all employee related issues, focusing on improving performance and professional documentation
  15. Responsible for ensuring compliance for the attendance reliability program
  16. Track and follow-up on late employees, sick calls and no show.
  17. Ensure that all employees are properly uniformed and equipped with PPE requirements
  18. Ensure that all damaged and defects to ramp equipment used are reported.

  1. Bachelor of Science (4 Year) degree
  2. 2-3 years management experience in the Airport Ground Handling Business.
  3. Previous experience in similar role
  4. A proven track record in managing a business unit.
  5. Experience in budgeting and financial management.
  6. Experience in operational planning and resource allocation.
  7. A working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues.
  8. Understanding of the wider airport operational environment.
  9. Experience and understanding of the commercial issues in aviation
  10. Experience of health and safety management
  11. Must pass pre-employment drug test
  12. Ability to lift up to 70lbs., comfortable with bending, kneeling pushing pulling various items.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the General Manager

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional environment, which may include exposure to all types of weather conditions and direct contact with both moving and non-moving aircraft.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, to include but not limited to:

  1. Communicate with customers and employees in person, on phone, and through radio communications
  2. Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an exempt position. This position may require working evenings and weekends, and on scheduled company holidays to accommodate the needs of the customers and employees.

Travel

Travel is expected for this position to industry trade shows, sales opportunities, and new location start up as required.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Degreed professional with a proven track record of business development and business control management
  2. Minimum 5 years Aviation FBO management experience
  3. Minimum 10 years of business experience resulting in full P&L responsibility for a business, or financial responsibility for a significant functional area

  3. Ability to pass a background check
