Description
Associate Producer, WQXR
WQXR seeks a full-time Associate Producer. Reporting to the Assistant Program Director, the role will primarily support WQXR's Programming team. In addition to completing essential daily programming, operational and production tasks, the Associate Producer will provide crucial support in maintaining and expanding WQXR's music library.
Responsibilities:
Programming and Operations
  • Add new tracks and associated metadata to the WQXR music scheduling database.
  • Quality check audio elements in programming logs to ensure a seamless listening experience during automated hours.
  • Assume all responsibility for WQXR's 24/7 Operavore stream, including scheduling music, loading logs, and performing database maintenance.
  • Audition new releases for airplay, keeping an eye on communications from record labels and other music industry professionals.
  • Program overnight music on WQXR, with the potential to train on programming additional dayparts down the line.
  • Schedule station promos and imaging in on-air logs.
  • Provide coverage on additional programming and operations tasks for other members of the Programming team.

Digital
  • Pitch and create original editorial content to enhance WQXR's web presence.
  • Provide coverage for the Digital team on WQXR.org homepage operations and the Daily Playlist email.

Production
  • Assist the Production and Live Events team as needed with WQXR live broadcasts, on-air specials, and community events.
  • Assist with the production of station imaging and promos.
  • Occasional back up on producing specialty shows

Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience producing arts and culture content, hopefully working with audio.
  • Experience writing scripts and other communication accurately while adhering to very tight daily deadlines.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms
  • Proven ability to thrive within a highly collaborative environment and work well with others
  • Enthusiasm for mainstream and niche arts and culture, especially in NYC
  • Attention to detail and a zeal for getting all the small things correct
  • Effective time management skills
  • Strong communication skills, in person, in print and online

Additional Information
This is a full-time non-exempt role with an hourly rate of $42.7648 ($77,831.85K annualized at 35 hours per week).
Salary offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and organizational pay equity. New York Public Radio also offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with vacation time, personal days, sick time and parental leave.
This role is based in New York City (or the immediate metro area) and operates in a hybrid capacity. This individual is expected to work onsite at WQXR's Manhattan headquarters 2 days a week.
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between New York Public Radio and SAG-AFTRA.
