Job Summary:

The Radar Maintenance Technician maintains, repairs, and calibrates all mission radar equipment. Analyzes systems data, provides recommendations to resolve radar system degradation and failures. Operates the Maintenance Monitor Console (MMCO) and immediately informs Missile Warning Operations Crew Commander/Crew Chief of any failures, degradation, or system status change. Initiates recall actions for C-E equipment, as directed, and obtain approval of any equipment removal. Will be knowledgeable of Computer Operations tasks and recovery procedures.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on the Phased Array Radar System.
  • Services, aligns, modifies, tests, inspects, repairs, and overhauls the radar equipment and all associated subsystems.
  • Maintains and repairs radar Sub assemblies and Sub Systems that includes, but not limited to, Time Standards, Signal Processors, Receivers and Exciters, Beam formers, Sub Array assemblies and sub-systems within the radar corporate feed system and equipment.
  • Operates specialized diagnostic tools, including signal generators, oscilloscopes, digital meters, power supplies, and spectrum/logic analyzers.
  • References and interprets engineering drawings, military Technical Orders (TOs), manufacturer manuals, and official directives to execute all tasks to exact specifications.
  • Coordinates maintenance actions, status tracking, and operational support ensuring continuous facility readiness and efficiency.
  • Schedules, plans, and oversees all routine and emergency maintenance.
  • Coordinates communication and circuit status of mission lines to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Manages and updates equipment status databases, completes compliance reports, and provides technical support or back-up computer operations as needed.
  • Responds to site reporting requests. Enters/updates Job Data documentation.
  • Monitors and reports electromagnetic interference, performs CPS and SDANet operations.
  • Performs relief duties as a computer operator.
  • Adheres to directives.
  • Performs operations of equivalent level involving the same type of work requiring the same skills, effort and responsibilities under the same working conditions as mission requirements change.
  • Performs other duties not limited to general housekeeping, safety and environmental practices, requisitions parts, monitors bench stock, supply point, maintains data/logs/files, complies with security policies, PWS directive publications, completes ancillary training and participates in exercises 

Educational/Training Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus one-year Electronics Technical /Trade School Training.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
  • Employment and start date are contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Two (2) years experience in maintaining phased array radars. Experience in technical area related to radar maintenance. SSPARS experience preferred.

Work Environment:

  • May work extended hours or weekends. May travel overnight or weekend

Physical Demands:  

  • Exerts limited physical energy. May have to handle 20-30 pound loads on occasion.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, remove and replace Solid State Modules.
  • Perform delicate circuit repair with small hand tools.
