Job Description:

Microchip Technology Inc. has a Senior Technical Staff Engineer-Test Engineer opening based in our Austin, TX office. We are seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to join the Timing and Communication Product Group. In this role, you will develop test programs and assist test development for product releases of SyncE/1588 timing, Clock Distribution and Frequency Synthesizers. As part of the Timing and Communications Group (TCG), the candidate will participate in all aspects of product and test development, from initial specification through volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Generating test programs for timing based products

  • Define and develop high speed low noise ATE test boards

  • Review new product specifications, advise design teams on product manufacturability for timing based products

  • Work with applications, marketing, product and reliability groups, for the release of new products, monitoring goals and schedules

  • Establish manufacturing guard-bands based on repeatability and characterization data

  • Support customer sampling and offshore volume production ramps

  • Support ongoing subcontractor test activity

  • Product cost reduction, yield improvement, and test capacity maximization

  • Analysis of Customer returned devices and supporting Customer requirements

  • Characterize and evaluate new products

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with minimum of 15+ years' experience developing ATE test programs for integrated circuits

  • Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits, from transistor to system level

  • Hands-on experience with ATE hardware/software development (e.g., Diamond X, J750, Advantest v93k)

  • Must have knowledgein silicon development, validation, qualification, and correlation methodologies

  • Advanced statistical data analysis skills; proficiency inprogramminglanguages (e.g.,C, C++ & Java) and tools (e.g.,YieldHub)

  • Familiarity with version control systems (GIT, SVN, Perforce)

  • Proficient in Linux/Unix and Windows environments

  • Skilled in using bench lab equipment (oscilloscopes, voltmeters, etc.)

  • Experience working with customersto addresstechnical and logistical concerns

  • Proven leadership in multi-geographic product development from concept to production

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Flexibility to collaborate with global teams and accommodate lab usage schedules

  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of IC packaging, testing, and manufacturing technologies

  • Expertise in generating test procedures and plans

  • Proficiency in PCB schematic design, layout, assembly, and debugging

  • ATE programming using Advantest Smartest and Cohu Unison programming environments
