Job description

About the Company:
Qumulo is the simple way to manage exabyte-scale data anywhere - edge, core, or cloud - on the platform of your choice. In a world with trillions of files and objects comprising 100+ zettabytes worldwide, companies need a solution that combines the ability to work anywhere with simplicity. This is precisely what Qumulo was founded to accomplish.
At Qumulo, we are building an open and collaborative culture where people can do their best work with customers as our magnetic field. We act as owners, we share by default, we are data driven and experimental and as an inclusive workplace, we encourage and celebrate multiple points of view. As part of our culture we believe diversity drives innovation.
About the Position:
The Manager, FinOps will own cloud cost strategy and financial optimization across Qumulo's multi-cloud environments. This role partners closely with Finance, Engineering, and Product to translate cloud consumption data into actionable financial insights that improve gross margins and unit economics.
You will combine financial modeling, statistical analysis, and infrastructure knowledge to drive forecasting accuracy, optimize reserved capacity strategies, and influence pricing and product decisions at the executive level.
Responsibilities
Cloud Financial Strategy & Forecasting
  • Lead forecasting and planning for cloud infrastructure across variable and fixed cost drivers.
  • Build scenario and statistical models to project consumption, margin impact, and pricing outcomes.
  • Establish and manage cloud cost budgets with cross-functional stakeholders.

Data, Automation & Reporting
  • Develop unified data pipelines across cloud providers, metering systems, and financial tools to create a single source of truth.
  • Automate monthly close processes and build executive-ready dashboards.
  • Implement anomaly detection to identify spend spikes and inefficiencies.

Optimization & Margin Expansion
  • Design and manage Reserved Instance (RI) and Savings Plan strategies across cloud platforms.
  • Identify cost optimization opportunities across compute, storage, networking, and scaling patterns.
  • Build cluster-level gross margin models.
  • Secure and maximize hyperscaler credits, migration incentives, and funding programs.

Business Partnership & Executive Insights
  • Translate usage and cost trends into clear recommendations for Engineering, Product, and leadership.
  • Influence pricing strategy, capacity planning, and consumption-based business models.
  • Support executive and board-level reporting on cloud economics and margin performance.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years in FP&A, FinOps, SaaS, or cloud infrastructure finance.
  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Strong experience in SaaS or cloud-based business models.
  • Advanced Excel/Sheets modeling; proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Deep understanding of cloud cost structures (compute, storage, networking, data transfer).
  • Experience managing RI/Savings Plans and consumption-based margin analysis.
  • CPA, CFA, or advanced quantitative degree preferred.

The annual pay range for the role is USD $151,000- $170,000 USD
Individual pay depends on various factors, such as role level, relevant experience and skills. Pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the pay range applicable at the time.
Benefits & Perks:
  • Pre-IPO stock options
  • Flexible time-off policy
  • HSA and PPO health insurance options
  • Dental and Vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
