Job description

Job Summary: This role involves monitoring, recognizing, and interpreting basic EKG parameters, responding promptly to emergent situations. The technician will adhere to regulatory and organizational guidelines, exercising sound judgment consistent with telemetry and physician orders under ICU nurse supervision.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Efficiently utilize supplies and equipment, complete work orders, support unit goals to reduce waste, meet deadlines, comply with staffing and timekeeping policies, accept extra duty and float assignments, and maintain telemetry equipment including troubleshooting.
  • Quality: Participate in documentation per unit standards, stay current with policy updates, problem-solve and multitask within scope, suggest improvements for patient flow, accept delegated tasks, and engage in teamwork.
  • Patient Satisfaction: Promote positive patient experiences through recognition and timely responses, maintain professionalism with personal device use, foster excellent relations with patients, families, visitors, and staff, and ensure a quiet, professional environment.
  • Patient Safety: Communicate effectively with patient units, promptly report telemetry changes and life-threatening dysrhythmias, utilize event management systems for unusual occurrences, tailor care routines to patient needs, and comply with HIPAA and social media policies.
  • Professional Growth: Share knowledge through orientation and cross-training, demonstrate leadership by serving as a resource or preceptor, identify learning needs and collaborate on development opportunities, participate in departmental goal setting, and attend relevant in-services.
  • Customer Service: Prepare equipment timely, contribute to a professional and quiet environment, demonstrate proper phone etiquette, foster teamwork and approachability, maintain interdepartmental relationships, and remain flexible with assignments and staffing needs.
Education and Experience Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Basic EKG course competency after hire.

Work Shift: 3rd Shift in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest United States.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36 hours.
