Job description

Manufacturing Process Engineer II - Solids
Tosoh Quartz Inc. manufactures ultra-high-purity quartz components used in the world's most advanced semiconductor tools. Our Solids Manufacturing Engineering team works hands-on with operators, quality, and maintenance to create reliable, repeatable machining and grinding processes for precision quartz parts.
We are seeking an experienced, shop-floor-focused Manufacturing Process Engineer who thrives in a high-mix, low-volume environment and enjoys solving complex challenges. This highly collaborative role does not have CNC programming responsibilities, rather you will work directly with CNC Operators, Quality, Maintenance and your fellow Engineers to build robust, repeatable processes.
What You'll Do
  • Improve and sustain machining and grinding processes for precision quartz components.
  • Optimize fixtures, tooling, parameters, and setups to enhance yield, throughput, and repeatability.
  • Lead root-cause analysis (RCA/8D) and partner with Quality/Metrology to meet tight GD&T and surface integrity requirements.
  • Create clear, visual standard work, setup sheets, and SOPs used across shifts.
  • Collaborate daily with CNC Operators, Quality, Maintenance, and fellow Engineers to resolve issues and strengthen processes.
  • Support equipment upgrades, PM recommendations, and EHS/ergonomic improvements.
  • Provide on-floor coaching, model strong teamwork, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.

What You'll Bring
  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related engineering field.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with machining or precision manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of fixtures, workholding, grinding principles, and setup optimization.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T.
  • Experience leading RCA/8D, improving yield, and using SPC/statistics for process control.
  • Effective, respectful communication with operators, supervisors, and technical teams.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MES systems and Microsoft 365.

Preferred Experience
  • Machining or grinding of quartz, glass, ceramics, or other brittle materials.
  • High-tolerance metrology: CMM, optical, surface/form inspection.
  • Creating visual work instructions in a QMS/PLM or MES environment.
  • SolidWorks or similar CAD proficiency.
