About The Job:

The Senior Plant Technician is a highly skilled individual contributor responsible for troubleshooting, dissembling, repairing, and rebuilding all equipment on-site. With a strong mechanical aptitude, this role involves using both common and specialized tools, welding, and cutting to maintain and repair plant machinery. The technician plays a critical role in ensuring site reliability and operational efficiency.

What You'll Do:

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including wearing appropriate PPE, and following MSHA/OSHA regulations.

  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness to prevent accidents and ensure your own safety and that of others.

  • Report any safety concerns, incidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Ensure that regular maintenance schedules are adhered to, conducting preventive maintenance on critical systems to avoid downtime.

  • Utilize their welding and cutting expertise to fix or replace damaged structural components, such as chutes and other wear metals.

  • Recommend or implement upgrades to enhance equipment performance, such as replacing outdated components for better operation.

Troubleshooting and Diagnostics 

  • Regularly inspect quarry equipment such as crushers, screens, conveyor systems, and wet processing machinery to identify any signs of mechanical failure.

  • Using advanced diagnostic techniques, assess the root cause of mechanical issues, ensuring that problems are properly identified and addressed promptly.

  • Constantly monitor the operational efficiency of quarry machinery, suggesting and making adjustments as necessary to ensure smooth workflows and prevent unnecessary downtime.

Skills You'll Need:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:  Minimum of 5 years of experience in plant maintenance and repair operations, preferably within the aggregate industry.

Certifications/Licenses: Valid Driver's License
 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of plant equipment, systems, and maintenance best practices

  • Expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical failures

  • Proficiency in welding, cutting, and using advanced tools for repairs

  • Strong knowledge of equipment teardown and rebuild processes

 
Qualifications - External

Critical Competencies:

Repairing and Maintaining Mechanical Equipment: Capable of independently performing and completing most routine maintenance tasks on quarry plant equipment. Experienced in using the appropriate tools and techniques for repairing conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, and other essential plant machinery

Making Decisions and Solving Problems:  Skilled in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing common mechanical issues to ensure equipment reliability. Ability to read and comprehend Service Manuals, Hydraulic Schematics, and Parts Manuals.

Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration with teams to optimize plant performance

Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards: Ability to follow maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan

Proactiveness: Self-motivated with a high level of accountability and attention to detail

Hourly Range. The base hourly range for this role is between $36.00 - $39.00 per hour. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package.  When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
