Scotty's Contracting and Stone is accepting applications for a Quarry Groundman, Laborer and Mechanic Helper. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence and seeking a long-term career opportunity!

Scotty's Contracting and Stone, LLC is a subsidiary of Houchens Industries and participates in an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP). The Employee Stock Ownership Plan provides employees with retirement through profit sharing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • General laborer position at Quarry.
  • Shovel, sweep, and clean around quarry sites, conveyors, and crushers
  • Perform general grounds maintenance.
  • Keep walkways, catwalks, and work areas clean and free of obstructions.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Clean up spillage and debris around conveyors, crushers, and work areas.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Wear and maintain proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report unsafe working conditions or incidents to management immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Able to work outdoors in extreme conditions, such as cold, heat, and humidity.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Able to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision.
  • Ability to get along with others.
  • Positive customer service-oriented attitude.
    Must possess a valid driver's license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work Environment: Able to work primarily outdoors, including occasional night work, with exposure to uneven terrain, dust, dirt, and varying weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
  • Proximity Hazards: Must be alert and able to work safely near heavy mobile equipment.
  • Climbing: Must have the physical capability to safely climb on and off of mobile equipment that is greater than 10 feet off the ground on uneven terrain multiple times daily. Must also be able to climb stairs and ladders at heights up to 100 feet.
  • Balance: Including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
  • Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.
  • Hearing: Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions.
  • Awkward positions: Getting to and from both sitting and kneeling on the ground.
  • Heavy lifting: Awkward parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulders, and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
