Job description

The Red Hat Openstack Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Raliegh, NC or Lowell, MA. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Post-Quantum Cryptography readiness of the OpenStack platform. You will work within the Openstack Engineering organization to ensure our cloud infrastructure is prepared for the next generation of cryptographic security.

We are looking for a security focused software engineer who is eager to tackle the evolving landscape of digital trust. You will lead the integration of quantum-resistant algorithms into core OpenStack services, ensuring high availability and backward compatibility. By contributing to both internal projects and the broader Open Infrastructure community, you will help establish Red Hat as a leader in secure cloud computing and provide our enterprise clients with the peace of mind that their data is secured against future cryptographic breakthroughs.

What you will do:
  • Analyze OpenStack components for cryptographic dependencies and migration paths to PQC algorithms.
  • Contribute code upstream to OpenStack projects; adhere to open source community guidelines and Red Hat's upstream-first policy.
  • Collaborate with the security and cryptography teams to implement PQC standards across Openstack.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.

  • Experience: 5 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Ability to work Hybrid in Raleigh NC or Lowell MA
  • Technical: Proficiency in Python (OpenStack's primary language), Go, and C/C++.

The salary range for this position is $118,600.00 - $195,680.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat's compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
