Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.
Role Overview
The Data Sourcing team partners closely with investment, research, and technology groups to identify, evaluate, and onboard high-impact datasets that support alpha generation and risk management. The team is responsible for the full lifecycle of data sourcing, from request management to commercial discussion, and then onboarding, governance, and ongoing usage analysis.
We are seeking a Data Sourcing Analyst with a strong understanding of Quantitative data to support data acquisition across the quantitative business at the firm. This role will work closely with portfolio managers, researchers, and quantitative teams to source both traditional and alternative datasets, manage vendor relationships, and ensure data is effectively integrated into the firm's research and trading workflows.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all requests from quantitative investment personnel; identify, evaluate, and source required.
  • Maintain highly detailed notes and lists of requests, interests, and current status of data usage in the quantitative vertical.
  • Proactively monitor the external data landscape to identify emerging vendors and new data sources with potential investment value.
  • Partner with PMs and researchers to understand use cases and translate investment needs into data sourcing requirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including pricing discussions, contract negotiations, renewals, and audits.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, and Procurement to ensure appropriate licensing, usage rights, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support cost allocation, usage tracking, and budget management across quantitative teams.
  • Oversee the end-to-end data onboarding process, working with Technology and Data Engineering teams to integrate new datasets.
  • Ensure data quality, documentation, and metadata standards are met.
  • Serve as a key point of contact between data vendors and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in data sourcing, market data, or vendor management, preferably supporting quantitative trading or research teams.
  • Extreme organization and attention to detail and comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Hedge Fund or Buy Side Experience Preferred
  • Strong understanding of quantitative markets.
  • Experience sourcing and managing alternative datasets is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with data governance, licensing models, and vendor contracts.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with portfolio managers, quants, and technologists.
  • Preferred skills:
    • Experience working with data inventory or usage-tracking tools (e.g., FITS or similar platforms).
    • Comfort working with JIRA, SQL, Python, or data analysis tools to support usage analysis.
