Quality Assurance Manager

Galloway Consolidated Holdings, Inc. (GCH)—the parent company of Bema and Elite Extrusion Technology—is a recognized leader in the packaging industry. Driven by innovation, advanced manufacturing technology, and strategic growth initiatives, we are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our team and help ensure the highest standards of product quality and customer satisfaction.

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems, programs, and procedures that ensure product integrity from raw materials through finished goods. This role will oversee quality assurance activities, certification programs, laboratory operations, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.

Reporting directly to the Director of Research & Development, the Quality Assurance Manager will play a key role in fostering a culture of quality excellence throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate quality policies, procedures, systems, and strategies to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Lead and coordinate the company’s AIB program, maintaining an AIB Superior Rating and ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable standards.
  • Establish and document quality procedures and best practices for company personnel.
  • Promote continuous improvement and quality performance across all functional areas.
  • Identify quality-related training needs and support employee development initiatives.
  • Ensure timely execution of corrective and preventive actions to address quality concerns and customer requirements.
  • Maintain quality documentation and records, ensuring accuracy, security, accessibility, and compliance.
  • Review and interpret laboratory and production data to verify conformance with specifications and authorize product release.
  • Supervise, organize, and maintain Quality Laboratory operations and Quality Department personnel.
  • Oversee calibration programs for inspection and testing equipment and maintain associated records.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve product quality issues using effective problem-solving methodologies.
  • Conduct and support root cause analyses and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, R&D, Sales, and Customer Service to support quality objectives.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.
QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 3–5 years of Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with AIB and/or SQF certification programs.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems, corrective actions, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Intermediate proficiency in mathematics and computer applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Working knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies.
Preferred
  • Experience in plastic packaging, blown film manufacturing, or plastic engineering.
  • Strong background in packaging and manufacturing operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of physical property testing for flexible films, including:
    • Dart Impact
    • Tear Resistance
    • Tensile Strength
    • Coefficient of Friction (COF)
    • Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVTR)
    • Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR)
    • Other related testing methodologies
